Guys, myself and a mate are heading out for a solid run on the 27th. Heading hasn't been cemented yet but it could be : healsville, Marysville, king lake, black/reefton spurs and possibly even the great alpine highway.. If anyone is up for this please post up.

I'm almost on the cusp of convincing my mate to ditch his piece of crap bmw 1600gt and get on a HD.. Come help me show him a bunch of REAL bikes so he can get rid of that spaceship..

Mate I'm still going. Just in Korumburra now. Looking at trip total of around 1000km. Home to Wangaratta the the entirety of the great alpine road. Fuel at Bairnsdale. Been going since 3pm yesterday. Had a kip at Lake Guthridge. Killed a rabbit and almost got killed by an adult eastern grey and 3 wombats...

3PM to 3PM 966KM.. Brings me up to a total of 5590KM this month alone...

Great run but it's a lot less life threatening during the day.. It was like a fkn safari over night. I decided to take a different route from Sale back to Melbourne on the A440.. Don't do it. That hwy is a mess. Pot holes resembling off road jumps and random ditches are not so nice on a lowered bike.

I just got back from 1000+km loop, left warburton, down to warragul via noojee then over to bairnsdale then up the alpine road to myrtleford then doubled back to harrietville for a swim, a beer & a sleep. Then went over mt beauty, back through myrt and out to eldorado to check out the gold dredge before slabbing down the Hume for a bit to eurora then cut across to Merton and down to warburton via healesville.

Did anyone see the fatal semi trailer accident at the south end of the alpine rd? Was pretty messy.

That sounds like an awesome loop Steve. Where so you stay for te night ? Camp or cabin ? What's the story with the Semi smash ? I was down that way yesterday and the day before doing my loop... Any more details on that one ?

It was a seriously good run, perfect weather, not much traffic and most importantly bugger all police presence.

The truck had tipped on its side at one of the last sharp left handers on the way south, it slid across the opposite lane and ended up off the side of the road. Debris everywhere.

They had a sheet up, RIP DRIVER.

There were several police cars and CFA trucks so we didn't see another police vehicle until Omeo.

The original plan was to drop a bedroll at Everton but we decided to stay at Harrietville in favour of a bed, a pool and several beers.

Ahhh dam. That sucks about that accident. Such a lethal road. One wrong move and your down the side of a mountain. RIP.

On a brighter note. That sounds like a solid run that you had. Pics look good. I had a great day but I won't be doing the GAR again at night. Way too much wildlife... Ill have to pull the swag out of the garage and head out with you blokes some time if that's alright ? DEFINATELY my kind of riding. Rack the k's up. Have a beer. Have a kip. Hit the road again. Nice one.
