Hi Guys, I've got a 883 08 sporty efi with a Fuelpak. A few weeks back I help a mate out and took my battery out to take off the trickle charger leads to charge my mates battery, my bike sat for a week and when i re-installed and the battery it was flat and wouldnt start. I tryed recharging the battery, reinstalled it and the efi pumped fuel and when i pushed the start button it clicked but would not start. I went out and bought a new battery, charged it overnight installed it with trickle charger leads then without , it has plenty of charge, fuel pump works and pumps fuel but it has no response when I try to press the start. Also the lights and horn works well and the blinkers flash left, right left right? Anyone had this problem or am i doing something wrong? Any help would be great cheers Graham
Not tryin to be smart, but it ain't in gear is it ?
That being OK, the next thing to check is for loose lead/s
Starter reley, starter solenoid.
Do some Harleys have the bike stand doohicky that wont let the bike start when its down? If so, maybe the stand sesor thingy is faulty, or the stands down?
make sure everything is connected correctly (no loose wires) clicking sounds like a flat battery problem also check any fuses perhaps one has blown with all the swapping and changing. but if you can get your hands on a mullty meter check the currund draw when trying to start. may be a starter relay problem ? worth a try
You may need to do something with the security code mate,
this is done via the back button on the speedo housing.
you may need to punch in your security code to reset the system and disable the cut off mech.
its a long shot but it may be the case.
Johno.
sounds like a wire left off for the relay? or fuse. no sorry just re read your post.....you got a click from the starter. that means the switching is ok.... check battery leads are tight and clean (very important). put bike in gear and rock it backwards and forwards (incase drive is stuck forward). might help.
Also, how old is the fob battery ? Might be time for a new one.
(blinkers flashing left, right might be the clue)
Tracked down a couple similar sounding problems,,, worth a read.

Flat Fob batteries tend to catch out people all the time. HD recommends you change the batteries every 12 months and remember to use the correct battery in your fob too. There are some that will fit but arent the right voltage which will cause your fob to do all sorts of funky shit to your bike.
Good idea to remember and practice using your pin because as Murphys law suggests the time your battery does go flat is going to be the most inconvenient possible time like when you are crossing the nullabor or something like that.
