Not trolling. I've been been a member for years. In fact longer than "Gregg" or his idol Scotty.

Grey imports are an option for people that do the the spanners themselves. But there are plenty out there that can not. they must rely on dealers or indy's or back yard wannabes.

There are a lot more out there that "really know Harleys" that don't blow the trumpet.

Doing a "Come watch me change your oil" and " I'll do a TTS tune" does not make an expert.

Selling non-compliant helmets and trying to promote yourself as an expert is irresponsible and downright up yourself.

Just a small pond he is swimming in.

    "A member for years"

Well what good have you done the forum in that time then ?

If you've done any good then speak up , if not then shut up.

And as for personal digs against me from " behind a veil " any "phantom" fans I have come across to date have most all been abject weirdos mate. ( Woulda used the other "W" word but that gets you admonished by the forum polizei !)

You are obviously following the trend and tracking true.

The mention of other ex-forum members of old is another seriously weird scenario ??

Did Scotty get dramas from you at the time , it would certainly appear so !

    " Up yourself " ?

Well on 2 occasions over the past 16 years I have had unsolicited approaches to go work for HD dealers.

Any of them EVER approach you to work for them ?

So suck on that ya purple dipstick.

And I won't be rising to any more shit , back to the " technical help-desk " for me !!

    To blitza666

The dealers were/are in WA mate. Going back to 1998 I was first asked , and again a coupla years ago.

I like working on Harleys "for fun" , making a "job" of it would have taken out most all of the fun.

That plus I have a reasonable "day job" anyways.

On more than a few occasions I have "helped" dealer staff "towards a better understanding" and that gets noticed.

    If that's " up myself " then i can't help that sorry !

I have only just come back to using this forum after having a break for a while as I was sick of the crap, sarcastic comments and personal attacks some members feel they have to post.

Some people need to get a fucking life, a forum is a group of like minded people getting together, helping each other and exchanging information. If someone has a personal grudge against another suck it up.

I don't know "Retroman" but from what I have read in the past, he is a useful forum member, readily posting useful, constructive information.

"The Phantom" on the other hand should be moderated off the site, probably has been already in the past.

Awaiting whatever smart ass comments will follow.

Just to add to this a little, re Dealers and their Standard of Service.
Given there are now 2 x HD dealers in the Poith Metro, one North (Frasers) and one South (Perth HD)
Given that the north dealer was probably the only one around in the late 90's - it would seem that their service may not have changed, maybe/maybe not.

I had to take my Luxe back 7 times to get the headlight shroud rectified. The story was it was delivered with out it, as the couldn't get one to fit (Genuine full peak shroud) When they did fit it, it kept coming loose and falling away from the top of the light unit. I had a crack at it myself, removed shroud and found no rubbers on the retainers, (I'm a Heavy Mechanical Fitter, with 20 + years experience in the industry) so I grabbed a couple of elastic bands, fitted them around the retainers and refit shroud, like new. Go back to my Northern dealer, advise them, spoke to the Service Manager. He advised that theyed have to get a whole new unit, so be it. 3 weeks pass, I phoned, no parts, yet, but the Warranty Manager explains he's got the same bike, had similar issue, bring it in and he'll fix it. Go back to Northern dealer, bike in shop for about an hour, comes out like new. 7th attempt. Gold.

HD Australia sends out a survey, want's honest feedback - so I gave it.

After first service, oil all down the side and lower frame area, greasy prints and shit all over bike, dumb C##TS had hosed off teh bike and wet the seat - found that out half way to heading out from waiting for first service with a fucking wet arse. Now I'm all for apprentices getting their go, but supervision over the kids is the name of the game, especially back in my day it was. Oh and I had teh great joy of paying ^$300 for the pleasesure, Never again.

So I get a call from the Service Manager, he wonders why I have given the feedback I gave, I ask, have you got the new parts yet to rectify the headlight issue, he say's NO, so that's now over 6 weeks, I ask, did you order it? at least he had the balls to admit he didn't. He then advises me that I'll receive a discount on next service. I advised that I won't be back for anything but a warranty issue, only want what I paid for in the first place.

Moral of the story - Good old fashioned service, will get you re-occurring customers, But "Once bitten Twice Shy" comes to mind pretty quick.

Anyway - I have heard horror stories re the Southern Poith Dealer as well (Not Southern as in Bunbury, They seem to only get great reports) One of the boys in the club is a registered Bike Mechanic ABN - So guess where I'll be going?

    just my 2 cents rave.

I used to insist when I bought a new Harley that I alone took it out of the crate and DID the PDI myself !

Back in the day I even did the first cleaning ,That was when I was first asked to go work for the ONLY dealer !!

The " dealer principal " back then was a real decent guy , and he had a persuasive argument , which I " avoided " at the time.

Same dealership ( different dealer principal !) asked me again roughly 10 years later , same scenario ( with the same answer !!)

Now I have no axe to grind with them , please believe that , and I have had both GOOD and BAD service from them over the 18 years I've dealt with them , mostly good.

( ALWAYS OVER WARRANTY WORK as i do most everything myself !) , but that's life as you find it in my experience !!

Gotta agree with some statements mate. I purchased my Muscle from the said southern branch in Perth and was nothing short of professional. The cast and crew there, brilliant!

i sent my bike down for a service and to add a few trinkets, mainly, I was waiting for my new wheels to arrive from the states for them to fit up for me. After a few delays in manufacturing delays (try nearly 17 weeks from order and payment), they looked after the bike at the shop, the whole time.

anyways, finally after the wheels arrived and the 17 hour drive to Poith, I dropped off the new wheels and the new trinkets to be fitted. My bad was treating the place like anywhere in the North West, wandering through the joint, also dropping all the gear in the workshop to be fitted the next day. Later that Arvo, I found out the manager was pissed they were fitting all the new gear, more worried about liability if something went wrong and "he only wants to promote Harley products and be fitted in the workshop.

Well, a nearly $4K labour and parts bill (nothing to do with the parts i dropped off) I politely told him, if HD made some decent looking and practical shit for the V-Rod Muscle, I'd buy it, but as there was naff all, it was my choice what I purchased, and if I was paying for the service to get it fitted, he should smile and at least kiss my ass. Basically, cause I didn't buy out  his shop front and went after market, but was still paying his mechanics to do the work, he thought he was missing out.

As I said, great people, in all departments, but like most owners of said establishments, especially when times are great, they tend to thumb their nose at you. Just wait for the days when th Harley's aren't walking out the door, the red carpet treatment should return to the punter who lines there pockets with return service.

again, hats off to the team who actually do something to make this a great service, and I will take my ride back, so they can fit up my Burleigh Muscle Bars, just out of spite, love it!

theres my rant for a Saturday, shit the beers are kickin in<img src=" border="0" />

if the govournment has its way thats not going to last much longer.

Will mate , is there something you've heard ?

With all the RAWS workshops up and running and the continuing strong Aussie dollar I don't see any letup in the "imports" situation .

The "genie is most deffo out of the bottle" there mate
