well from past experience with S&S cams they normally quite.

but the easy starts have the built in decompression in the cam. i've been told its normal for these cams to clatter as you turn off the motor but that is not going to hurt anything. also check your lifters as some lifters can be noisy, thing is when you go over about 500 lift they always make a small amount of valve train noise, just normal

have you also got roller rockers?

with 585 you don't need the easy start  bit if your  motor size & comp is not too big . just more bit's  rattling around  & to wear out,   i would never buy a set for any motor not a fan @ all

Well i would like easy starts if someone will give me some for xmas!

i got high comp on a twinky Dyna only 95 cubic inch & have decomp valves i have to push in b4 starting & still go through starter clutchs the easy start just work as you first start up & bleed off a lot more comp as you can get more pressure to flow out the valves than the little decomp vavle or the electric decomps Harley use. i looked at the easy start cams and they look robust enough & i'm deaf so could not care about the noise if she runs strong.

But if Daddyracer57 says they give trouble or he has personally saw some go? jap bikes have used this set up for a while i'm told but personal experience i don't have. but twinkys have there problems built in so one more movement not going to worry me, i'll take them

    cheers

Yeah I'm not sure about Ezy Starts.

Im no expert but to me it looks like you are only using half the cam lobe width. For the decompressor to work it must catch half the roller.

    ???????????

    Could be wrong.

if the bike has the right cam's for the job,  lobe centre's etc @ hand with the right comp ratio V stroke lenght    (the  Question )  right tune very important it would not kick back @ the electric self starter  & crunch the ring gears & bendix clutch , no differant  than a good old kick starter that could fuck your knee up  like the older bike's,   you have to have them in good tune  with valve seats in good con'd etc  the right amount of fueling in cold or hot starting mode  with a kicker or a selfstarter ,    if those ezy start cams only pick up 1/2 a roller  would not valve spring presure's  & cam lift height & cam duration  have a bit too do with the  wear factor ,  some of these heads can be around 200lb @ seated presure,  S&S is not 100% foolproof  just look @ there X engine   XXXX

the harley has a 1.65 rocker ratio  + 200lb valve spring presure  in reverse  @ the cam follower wheel,   that is over 320 lb presure on the cam , e.g. @ 6,000 rpm the crank rotate's 100 time's per second  the cam rotates @ half engine speed 3,000 per second  etc  just as & idea how hard parts do work

Hi done a 106 kit and 585 cams onmy street glide 6 months ago, also fitted high lift springs, did not change the cam followers, kept the original had only done 14,000Klms.
starts great with the esay start cams, but must idle at min 1000rpm, no additional noise from engine. Perhaps you should check the oil pump seal if any leakage could be running low pressure and causing cam followers not to pump up
