Knock in Wide Glide forks

I got my new Wide Glide about a month ago.
From the outset it has a knock or clunk in the front forks at the point the shock transitions from compression to rebound. To me that seems unusual for a 30K bike.
The dealer told me today that it's normal for the Wide Glide.
Any one else experienced the same? It has 1300k's on it.

got a similar sound in my fatbob. almost sounds like it in the brakes. cant find anything loose or moving. I suspect it is the pads in the capilars

On my bike(2010 Widdeglide) I notice it if I sit on it,pull the front brake on and bounce the forks...I installed intiminators about a month ago and not sure if it was there before...30k for a Wideglide seems a bit overpriced????

    Check the following:
Wheel bearings - if they are loose or worn it should be easy to spot if you raise the front end and wiggle the wheel
Steering bearing - again raise the fron end and test to see if you have play in them - odds on that this is the problem
Fork oil - drain the oil and refill with the correct amount of the right weight - sometimes a low level gives a knock

If you do a search you'll also find what the cause of mine was. I put Racetech gold valves and springs in the front 8 weeks ago. It's a great setup and handles well. My ride last week was just over 1200km with chriso and the boys. On the trip home mine also developed the dreaded front end knock. I did the fall test and adjusted the head stem bearing, tightened the stem nut to the new spec etc, still had the knock. Next on the list was the fueltank. Although it seems tight the story it the bolt runs through a tube under the tank and if not totally real tight it will knock and sound like its coming from the forks. Once I tightened it up, the knock stopped,,,totally fixed. Lots of storys of the exact thing happening to many Dynas. Try it and let us know.

Thanks for that info. I will check these things out. It's not the steering head bearings because they checked that out, but yeah there is something there that's not right I think.

I will come back here and post when I get to the bottom of it. In the mean time I will post a pic of my new bike in the other section.

Cut the spacer down that sits on top of springs under caps. Took 25 mil off mine, lost a bit of clearance but rides alot better and no knocking

Going back to the OP, I picked up my new Street Bob last week and I can feel the same subtle knocking in the forks from compression to rebound. It's really feint and hard to notice with the engine running. I can only reproduce it with the front brake on. I asked the stealer mechanic who reckons its to do with the slight amount of play created by the floating front disk, and was perfectly normal. Makes sense but I'm no expert. Could this be what you reckon you had with yours? Is my dealer guy right about the floating disk or is he. taking the piss?

i would not be copping it..Dont talk to em at the front counter. go straight out the back and talk to Peter the head mechnic. he will be more helpfull.
That is if we are talking about Robbos

Nah it was the mechanic out the back. He was pretty helpful. I'm just not sure if he was right!
