Went to drop in at Gasoline Custom Garage the other day and discovered they've closed the doors - they're facebook page confirms it - http://www.facebook.com/GasolineCustomGarage
Anyone know why?
Right. Given the clout they had behind them with Deus and Action it shows how tight the economy is at the moment.
Dead right mate. Harley riders are pretty switched on and I guess that's the difference - that is - people who ride Harley's understand their machines probably more than most.
The model of attacking a Yamaha TW 200 with an oxy torch and then selling it for $15,000 to hipsters in Surry Hills might have worked for Deus in that market, however, it obviously didn't cross pollinate.
I heard they spent a lot of money trying to get the Zero's complied - will be interesting to see whether they end up being the Leyland P76's of bikes.
Can't wait to see your shop - opening it in Richmond?
Wow. Shows how much you have to understand your target audience - the Zero's are unique, but they obviously just weren't right to get out cover some serious hard riding across this big land. Maybe if the economy was in better shape people would have been willing to shell out that sort of money for something to go and buy a coffee on.
Congratulations on the progress of your store bud - great location with people coming on and off the mountains.
They didn't last long, great concept but at the wrong time. Deus has been going for a long time now, not sure how they manage to sell there over priced bikes to the public but they maybe doing something right.
i was nivited to there openning night all not that long ago, with i think a bit too yuppie market & high $ tag for some pretty ordinary bike's that just would not cut it in the real Aussie custom road world that we ride in , but Ron Hunwick is not short of a quid so it's no great loss it's just a drop in the BIG Pacific Ocean, maybe they could of sold the Zero's in Darwin it's not the 1st time they have been across the Pacific
Harley Davidson MoCo should drop their prices even lower than they are again, they are still a way over priced motorcycle.
rang Buster last week (their website is still up) and he told me they closed in August last year, they couldn't sell enough Zero's, he's moved to Action.....I'm looking for someone to maybe look after a '97 Heritage Springer 'Ole Boy' I just imported, which is why I rang Buster, the bike has only done 590 miles (yep hard to believe until you see the bike) and while my (car) mechanic and I have changed the oils, plugs, filter (from Frasers) to get me going and the brake fluids were done at compliance, I'm looking for someone to be able to check out the finer aspects of the 500 mile service and beyond going forward and don't want one of the big dealers to handle it....
the bike left Florida in pristine condition and arrived here 4 months later with a chip in the tank, customs had it in their bond area for a month which probably didn't help.....shame, anyone recommend a good paint shop as well as a mechanic ?
happy to take the bike somewhere but not halfway across Sydney if I can help it, I'm around the North Sydney area...I'm told Frasers won't service an import although I haven't asked them as wasn't intending taking it to them anyway.......
can anyone help me with this ? this is maybe the wrong place to ask the question as I've seen the posts saying the question gets asked every week but have yet to find the thread relating to it.....all pretty new to me but I'll get the hang of it....and see if I can't find somewhere more relative to post this.....
