So today my fuel light cam on at 200k and pissed off I pulled into the servo only to put 13L in the tank!  WTF!!  That's 5.6L/100  Farking thing!!!  I had another 100k in the tank!!

So... does yours tell lies too?  Mine never use to!!

Mine seems fine, but I'm told you can buy a better sensor for them, I just can't remember where they said to get them.

There was a post (not sure if it was on here) about cleaning something with steel wool (non soap kind), but I can't remember where I saw that either, since it was ages ago I was reading up on it.

while resetting the trip may well save the day the fucking fuel gauge should work correctly but they seldom do

After recently having a Thundermax Auto tuner fitted, my bike seemed to really have sucked through the last lot of fuel. I've noticed the fuel pump noise more too, so I will be keeping an eye on my trip meter a lot more from now often. It will be interesting to see how many k's I get out of this tankfull now. In the past, I was able to get 250 km's/ tank no problems.

I basically ignore my fuel gauge and the 'distance remaining' setting on the trip computer because they both tell me I'm about to run out when I've only used 13 to 14 liters.

Doesn't really bother me, most of my bikes never had a fuel gauge and the few that did were never accurate either so... yeah trip meter.

U talking about a proper fuel gauge or the fill light that comes standard?
My standard fuel light is retarded and untrustworthy can come on at 180km or up to 225km(least it comes on early I guess then late) Been thinking of buying one of those led gauges ... if they work..

Mines got a carby and a petcock. I set the trip and hunt for fuel about 215 km. Im gonna need the petcock reserve at 225 km. I do tha same with my cars and always have. Just habit i suppose. But i have NEVER fun out or vuel.
That being sais Superglide, u can try pulling the sender out of the tank. It shoud have a float of some kind that rubs on a set on contacts. You can clean them gently. I wouldnet use wire wool, try a bit of scrumpled up aluminium foil . Be very careful not to bend anything. .
