    Hello All.

I would please like to ask if anyone has fitted a XR1200X front caliper to an 883 Iron?

I thought it was an easy fit so I ordered one. Asked the dealer to fit it and they said that the clearence from the caliper to the wheel was very close, so they did not fit i.

Will go in to look at it and have a chat.

Any pictures from someone that has done this would be great.

I have fitted one to my bike and many other bikes, On the iron there are indeed clearance issues, you will need to file the back of the caliper to give more clearance from the spokes. Use paper to measure your clearance, you will want atleast 3.5mm of clearance. I went only to 3mm and coming down from falls creek i use using the front brakes alot and noticed after my ride that the spokes had shaved the paint off the caliper. This was only with heaps of hard braking, 3.5mm and you should be fine.

    Regards T1

If your in melbourne PM me and i can help you out.

Thanks for that, I have found a picture on here and it does seem very close indeed.
When I go in Saturday I will have a talk to them, or I might just buy the unit and get my friends advise on the issue also.

Apparently the earlier ones had no issues, mines a 2010 and I have no issues at all. I've been told it's the 11/12s that have clearance issues.
But it's a sensational mod and transforms the bike!

Just had the XR caliper fitted on my 2010. It rubbed & needed clearancing.

    Slap.

I have performance machine calipers on the front of my 2010 iron, braided lines, they work great.
