Yngwie J Malmsteen is my personal favourite. Steve Vai and Joe Satriani are IMO equally as good. Anybody heard of Vinnie Moore? Saw him at a guitar tutorial in Perth about 20 years back.

For me of all the guitarists I've seen live, and that runs into the thousands probably, the only guy who made me jaw hit the floor was the one and only DIMEBAG DARRELL

Dimebag was king. I was in Hospital the day I heard, I was almost in tears. Had the privilage of seeing him shred with Pantera in 2001. Rest In Peace brother!

As far as best guitarist of all time, that's impossible to answer.

Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, Steve Vai, De Batio, Satch.....??? All the new talent and unheard of's? Man, all the respect to Jimi, Jimi, Rhandy, Clapton etc, the skill level has increased dramatically in the last 20 years, those old boys are a little outdated.

My mate is a freak of talent, same level as the G3 guys. Probably wont get heard.

    These are only nominations -

Gus G. from the greek band Firewind. Hand picked by Ozzy himself to play for him after Zakk left. Phenomenal guitar work.

Check out Devin Townsend - sang for steve vai back in the day then went onto form Strapping young lad - beautifully brutal as fuck. He's now focussed on a band in his namesake.

John Petrucci is up there too.

     Tommy and Phil Emanuel.

No imitators here. They can near do on an acoustic guitar what many need a lot of electronics to do.

    He He and Aunti Jack.

Bit of a hijack here so I apologise but I'm a very proud grandfather and I reckon we should hold the voting until my grandson 'Spike" Sperlich gets a few more years under his belt. He's only 11 years old and only started playing at Xmas 2011.
