73 shovel

     I have just got a 73 fl shovel whitch i wont to chop .I nead to know do i have to chop the frame or can i get of set trees to suit also how long can i make it. This is my every day ride i would like to put a 3" primary belt on but noticed not many bikes run a exturanal belt what are the pro,s and cons of this.

    thanks for you input Hmmm2 but your 2bobs worth have you ever known enybody to brake a leg or just herd of. They do look dangerous but pretty cool though

     i seen a sock ripped outa the shoe with on cuts on foot,  sock complety suck off  that was the bike shop i use too work in it was a cranky old shovelhead  with a cranky old boss,   shame it didn't fucking ripped  his fucking leg off he had ripped off enough bike riders too have some shit back

    I had one on my wide glide until my jeans got caught, I was able to pull my leg out before any injuries i wouldnt have one again plus on early models they are loud as fuck with all the bearing noise from the clutch hub etc

     Some good advice some not so good just how you take it .Im brocken at the moment so might just chop the fuck out of it . The 2nd day i owned it it was regoed it rides grate moter and gear box has been rebuilt it is just  a shit purple frame as well but a good starting point.

    costs me $500 to have a 1975 shovel frame raked at the bike shop in Ballarat...
    3 inch open belts look great suit the era and arnt that dagerous, most that say they are have never run one, ive owned plenty ,and still purchase them for my builds, sometimes run them with guards sometimes not, have a look at my 1966 build on the clasic panhead/shovelhead pages here, if you like...should be a photo or 2 of it....oh & use a support bearing on your trans, & a trans adjuster makes life easier as well...
