Hey Lushy thats the kit I have.
Still waiting on that bloody filter still didnt come in today. Hanging to take it out.
Have you tuned many of these kits with a super tuner?
How did they come up?
I've dumped in map 176UZ007 idles really rough, spits and farts, backfires out the exhaust.
Used and infrared thermometer and measured next to the plug on each head, front head runs alot hotter at idle front is like 120'c and the rear 90'c
Any suggestions?
A friend of mine has a new 103 St 4 with the CNC heads. He put a 2 into 1 exh on it ( can't rmemeber which, have to look in my recors) and I tuned it maybe 2 months back. Did 118hp. They go well especially considering the cam numbers.
That sound awsome, did it run with the 58mm TB?
Got the filter and bolted every thing up this arvo, fired it up and the front cylinder gets alot hotter than the rear. That can't be right
Cant touch the front and can put my hand on the rear.
Is it possible that one of the cams is a tooth out?
Ditto Lushy,
If you have an improved map over the factory offering than would fantastic .
Hows your kit going Rans got it on yet?
Got my filter on today and going to take it out tomorrow first time. I'll give you an honest opinion tommorrow.
Still worried about the front cylinder running hot at idle, started second guessing my work so pulled the cam cover again and checked the cam timing all spot on.
Did a leakdown test all good, comp is even front and back. F%#cked if I know. If it gets worse I might throw a map in with all cells at 13.2 afr and see if that helps
Yes friend had the 58 TB. I would check the part number of your pushrods if they are the "perfect fit". I recently did work on a brand new 113 stg 4 which had pushrod .060" longer than what it should have. Bike tested ok when cold, but missed a little down low and had uneven temps. Found the rear exh valve was riding as the lifter was bttomed out. Set of adjustables and it ran like a winner. Also check manifold seal. Vaccum leak will do similar stuff.
From memory the supposedly "perfect fit" pushrods were + .030'.
If they were riding the lobe would you pick that up with a leakdown test at TDC? Does that mean it was bottoming the lifter out?
How much adjustment/travel do you have to play with in lifter adjustment?
Which 2 into 1 was your friend running, thats 10hp more than most guys get.
Were the CNC heads the new ones with the small valves and no markings?
Sorry fof the post full of questions.
Ok lots of questions :-). On the particular bike I did the valve must have been only just riding as it did not show up when I tested it. I have not measured exactly how much lifter travel there is, maybe one of the Harley techs/mechanics here would know exactly.approx 100thou I think? I would have to look up the pipe brand in my computer, I knew you would ask that and have been trying to think of it.I was a pretty good pipe with a crappy baffle in it. I made a better baffle and got six more HP. I don't know about 10 more than most guys. 5 or 6 years ago I was dyno-ing TC88's out to 95cube. Hoody used some good combos and it was common to do 110-112 and I have had some to 115. I have not tried this but I am as sure as one can be that the st 4 103 kit would jump with a nicely assembled top end and a better set of cams. Not sure which heads he had, it came straight from the dealer with the stage 4 kit. I know the cam and comp. Had the little CNC badge on the head and Screamin Eagle on the other head. The good ones I think.
Rans,
Mate you are going to love it.
I'm pretty fussy with alot of stuff but this kit kicks ass.
It's got more everywhere, strong bottom end, pulls hard to the limiter.
Can't believe what a pig it was before. They should come like this standard.
I too off in 2nd by mistake and it pulled away. Took a few corners in 3rd no problem.
Seem to be riding in a gear one higher than before, must be the extra torque.
Good luck.
