I've just put an EV27 cam in my 99 softail EVO motor. Now at idle the slide in the Mikuni 42 is rattling. I know it's the longer duration cam that is causing it to rattle more at idle and have read all the info on the problem from the Mikuni site, but they have no fix for the problem on their site.
Does anyone know of a fix for the rattle other than changing back to the stock cam or changing carbies?
when the slide is closed can you rattle the slide in & out in the carb body if you can the carb is worn a bit it's been a city bike carb before? sit's around idling a lot that will wear factor , the slide hold's better in the body when it @ 1/4 +to full opened, i know the early one's rattled easier but it would not realy matter what cam it just means the engine is sucking a bit harder @ idle stock cam have a latter lobe centre than the EV27 but i do not think thats too much worry , can you rebuild the slide
thks
I'm gathering you can buy replacement slide for the carby?
Mine's done it since brand new out of the box with EV3 cam. Sometimes sounds like a fucked compensator. Get used to it.
