Well, after a quiet ride down the ocean road and a quick chat with the nice cop that pulled me over amd sent me on my way with a smile, I got the EPA noise test notice in the post today. The RAT! Never said a word at the time. How many got early xmas pressies today i wonder?
Anyway, I have to present te bike for test. I have S&S slip ons on an 04 dyna supergide and NO original pipes. the mufflers have baffles. The question is.............Is there a way to quieten them down for the test. I dont know anyone that has a set to use and i cant find any on ebay. any ideas?
These are cheap for 30 bucks and will fit your stock dyna headers.

I have my stock mufflers for just this occasion . Pay for freight and you,re welcome to borrow them .
Pick up a set of standards off ebay or try and get some dealer take offs. If you fill them with steel wool and other crap the EPA bloke will pick it up. The new model bikes come with the cats in the muffler. If you don't have the cats like standard mufflers you will get knocked back. I know this because has it happened to me. You should always keep a set of standard mufflers just in case. Once you get it cleared and you decide to put your loud mufflers back on just hope the same cop doesn't pull you over again, or I'm sure he will make you pay.
A while back someone on here suggested a standard muffler lending bank. Hey KC, mayby make one up as a sticky, Wot you rekon?
I've got some standards for a muscle and another set for touring, 09 and onwards which im willing to lend out if anyone needs em to get the epa test done.
had a bit of trouble getting bike regoed with v&h pipes bikes 6years old had them on from new no trouble till now put the standards back on i will keep them on but it now sounds like a vtwin victa
this is from the nsw epa
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) administers the Protection of the Environment (Noise Control) Regulation 2008 (Noise Control Regulation) which, among other things, controls noise from motor vehicles and motor vehicle accessories.
Some of the key requirements of the Noise Control Regulation for which on-the-spot fines may be issued are:
Maximum on-the-spot fines under the Noise Control Regulation for a motor vehicle exceeding the specified noise levels are $500 for an individual and $1000 for a corporation. The maximum court penalties that may be imposed when on-the-spot fines are court-elected or are applied to repeat offenders are $16,500 for individuals and $33,000 for corporations.
The Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2007 administered by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) includes the following provisions:
The following Road Rules 2008 administered by the NSW Police Force for which on-the-spot fines may be issued also apply:
The EPA is continuing to assist the Police and RMS with enforcement campaigns relating to noise from motor vehicles.
Great idea mate. I've got an unused set of standards for a Fatbob that I'd put into a lending bank. someone's just gotta work out the logisics.
I spose if KC can set up a specific post, or thread, and only those wanting to lend out their spare pipes need to put a post up with the model under the title. The members can peruse through them and instead of replying to the post they can PM the OP.That way the thread doesn't fill up with crap. How does that sound? KC Is that possible?
