I had heard the same thing, so I went with the HD Willie G pegs.  They are not round - not really a floor board - but not an ugly round peg either.

I rang a dealer the other day to ask if I could run an 18inch rear and a 19 inch front on my Fatboy (2010) and he told me no. Would be major modification and he could quote me up the work if I wanted it.

Turns out - He should look for another job, as they are a straight bolt in.

Ya just can't find good help. Don't settle for one dealer's response - I had to ring a few to get the right answer.
