    hi all.

We after saying my bike has everything i want . looks like i have already lied to myself within 2 months of buying it.. I just purchased from VPW the Attitude 58 mm inverted forks with 5 degree rake and 2 inch over. and a 4 spot calliper.  ( thanks walka)

While i am very mechanically minded i still no little about replacing a front end. this job includes forks, trees, lower neck bearing with internal stop, replacement brake calliper, replacement wheel bearing with smalller i/d or custom built spacers.

just interested in any tips or technical info that will help things go smoothly. not sure if it will come with instructions so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers

if there 5 deg rake tripple trees i would not be fitting them,   less trail   less straight stabe @ higher speed  ( be carefull )

I have aftermarket bars and wheels and will be refitting non HD forks, trees, brakes so not sure how much the manual would help.
I have looked at the trail calcs and considered the pros and cons. It's not too wild and most who have fitted this set up seem more than happy.

    Cheers

    Hi Devo,

I'm running an Attitude conventional front end from VPW, it's 5 degrees in the trees 2" over in the forks. The bike handles great! I actually prefer it to the stock set-up, it turns in quicker in corners & is solid as a rock at speeds of up to 150km's. The only thing is at walking pace it's harder to keep in a straight line, easily over come though be dragging one foot on the ground.

Check out the link below, it's a forum question I asked about this subject that might help you.

    Cheers, Spero..

Sorry for the late repy Devo.

It was about 12 months ago I changed my front end so I can't remember to much about it. It's a really straight forward job though, just take your time with it & tape anything you think you might scratch! An extra pair of hands makes the job alot easier especially installing the new front end onto your bike.

Good luck & I look forward to seeing the finished product!

As above for me too! I have 4 degrees trees and 2 inch overs and it handles better than stock. :) I am about to put a 19 inch wheel up front, so my trail might get interesting. LOL!!

Mine is also rock solid up to 140!

I did the entire job - not that hard.

Just take your time mate and you will be right. :)

    Pics and more pics. :)

Cheers. Looking forward to fitting it. I was going to go standard length to allow for a change from 21 to 23 but think I'll stay with the 21 now.put 200 klm on it today so I could really gauge the difference. Already thinking about the next step now. Maybe SAS air shocks. Then that's it for a while.

Front end is all done. Had a few hiccups along the way so having a local HD mech on the job also helped. I'm running a 52 spoke rim so had a few spacer issues.nothing major. Changed the wheel bearings instead of machining spacers there because the stock bearings are rubbish.
    How's it look ..... Great 100% happy
How's it ride ...... Fine. It's a bit unsettled of the mark and it always feels a little less settled than before but it's very minor. Top speed no worries. Corners are fine. Rough roads are a little more to deal with but it's so minor it's almost not worth mentioning.
So those that are thinking 5 degree rake. All I can say is will not be the same as standard but the slight loss of stability is a small price to pay for the look of the finished product.
    Happy as.

    Well done Devo.

Does it wobble at all through the range? As in... Does it wobble between say 40 and 60 and then smooth out?

Only done about 50 klm but not that I can tell. I get a slight sensation of tram tracking like I get with the 20 inch rims on my car. But not much at all. I only really notice it at the lights as I accelerate off the line. Slight wobble but by a jogging pace it's all good.
