OK.. So I have the go ahead form the Minister for Finance and Pleasure for new wheels, and now I need to decide... 21 inch on the front, or not?

    I have some questions....

    1) Will it change the handling that much?

    2) will it affect my Rake and Trail - I have 4 inch raked trees - and it rides nice!!  :)

Any personal opions are welcomed!  :)

    Cheers

+ 1 on that. If you like the ride now, maybe try to find some hot rims in the same size.

     Yeah thanks lads...

I have come to like the slimmer front tyre look - like the pic below.

I am just trying to find out now what the affects will be.  Not worried about the guard etc.  I am more concerned about the ride and handling though,

This is the look I really like...

So I just found this link that states that it will all fit under the stock fender too!  I will be running a 120 tyre - so not super skinny!

Does anyone know if it will affect the rake and trail?

OK lads... I have read just about every wheel modification post on the web I reckon, and the way of thinking seems to be 18 inch on the rear, and 19 inch on the front.  Most are in agreeance that the 21 on the front will not only fuck with the geometry, but will not be a good result.

However, the 18/19 combo seems to work really well, and fom the pics I have found, it pretty much ticks the boxes.

Check these out...  These all have an 18/19 combo and I can run the 120 tyre up front! :)

    Thanks Dave.

Yep. That seems to be the consistent story with 21.

The 18 / 19 combo looks good to me, so will probably be the way I go.

A bit more reading and I will make a decision.

Just in case you're still thinking about it, and with the question of the rake and trail , you might want to check this link.. http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/rakeandtrail.html

If you look you'll find a link to a more comprehensive calculator on that same page, but the simpler one will probably give the info you want.

I've never found the 21" on my springer to be a problem, but each to his own..

Thanks mate! The calc (if I am entering the details correctly) gives me a trail of 2.4 inches. So, nowhere near stock, but still on the range, and not much out from where I am now. :)

I put a 19" wheel on my 95 Softy and could really notice the difference...I am just looking at options for my 2010 Wideglide but money is tight so at the moment thinking maybe a 3.5 x 21" just to get the wider track...

    Sparra,

I had all intentions to go 21. But everywhere I have read has told me that it will affect my ride too much - so I am going to meet in the middle and compromise. If it ends up looking like any of the ones I posted above - then I am stoked!! :)
