    Hi All,

My first Harely and it is a 2012 Roadking, I would like to know how to get rid of the rev limiter on it and what is the easiest/cheapest way to get a bit more oomph also would like to know how to get it a bit cooler running as I am riding it to WA from melbourne later next year, the only thing I have done so far is add some V&H monster ovals... many thanks in advance for any advice

Not sure what the stock valves and springs has to do with over reving, I would be more concerned about the cast piston cracking the shits

But look buying a tuner, TTS and the Power Vision are two front runners they will help with richer tune to cool the engine down some and also let you set the rev limiter to were ya like

Not to mention there would be no gain going beyond the limiter on a stock motor.

I will ask the question I asked a long time ago..

Why in the world would you want to rev the fuck out of the engine going through the gears? Seriously!! If you hit the limitier in 3rd, you are already going to be doing stupid speed, and you have another 3 to go! What the fuck for?

Remember, each engine has a limited life, and the harder you wring its neck, the quicker you will get to it's end of life.

I just don't get it. If you want to go like a bullet, buy a rice burner!!

    I am with Hilly.... FFS!!!

Not to mention running a basically stock motor with the stock cams then well before you reach the rev limiter you've passed peak torque and peak power and you'd be accelerating faster if you changed gears.

To the OP I'd fit a higher flowing air filter and a tuner and get your bike tuned to match your pipes and cleaner.

     Absolutely Geoff,

Well before you hit the limiter, you have run out of pull.

I think of my bike like my Mrs...  Treated it badly too often, and it's going to stop pulling!!

Thanks guys for your input some of it quite funny really though Geoff3dmn had some worthwhile thoughts , unfortunatley motorhead I moved from a 4 stroke Japanese V twin motorcycle (not a rice burner)  that had instant grunt and I think I am just finding it a bit frustrating with how long it takes these harleys to move when you twist the grip eh! but that said I find I am warming to its other charms, I note that bomber reckons the harley engine isnt a very strong one anyway from what he said so I will bear that in mind and treat it like a toy bike

mate, go to the Nightrider website and have a look at the FL-103 IED wires. That's what I used before I became a "TTS guy"

that'll help with the engine heat and allow you to de-restrict the air filter as well with no tuning issues

There's a great youtube video showing them being fitted to a Bagger.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omUjgsMm9UA

However to raise your rev limit setting, you'll have to change the Calibration in the ECM

In the US the dealers can do a one off download called a street legal Stage 1 , but the Aussie dealers couldn't do that for you , but I've heard they can do so now. That will raise the rev limit to 6200 RMM as said already.

Bagger riders in the US swear by this stage 1 with the IED wires to richen up the fuel mix a tad.

way cheaper than any tuning system with no Dyno torture required

Hi Hilly the answer is a no, I am not going to do any more to the motor, I think I will get a larger A/C and the XIED units to add to the monster ovals from what I have now been reading they seem to be enough for what I want as I am 61 and not 100% physically fit so not worth while outlaying more money than I have too.

So I would like to thank you all for investing the time to reply to my questions, you were all helpful
