    Cheers mate.

When you mean standard  E type oil, I guess you mean screamin eagle?

When you say 79 mm from the top without springs, would I need 1 or 2 bottles?

No not Screaming eagle oil, that is too thick for stock sportster forks, just ask for the standard fork oil. You will need 2 bottles. one bottle for each fork (you wont use it all.) but if you havnt done this job before, put a thick blanket over the bike and take top riser clamp off and lay the bars over the tank. make sure the front wheel is off the ground, then take the fork caps off, expect the cap/preload spacer and spring to jump out at you so use a nice rag over the cap when undoing the last few threads....48's dont have drain screws so you'll have to take the wheel off....etc

Dyna fork sliders will give you about another 1 1/2 inch travel, it will make is smoother over all those bumps, otherwise depending on your weight with the ikon from springs cut the preload spacers to 25mm.

If you get stuck let us know, i have played around alot with late model sportster front ends.

Im 110kg, so will need all the pre load I can get. hahahahahaha

I will try the springs with the spacer provided to start with and go from there. Luckily i live in the Perth hills so good riding at the front door for suspension testing.

You stated 79mm from the top, a guy from work had his done recently and he did it at 71mm?

stock is 79mm, all depends on your weight and what you like, stock usually means a rider about 85kg, what you need to do is get the correct rider sag first, on these bikes is 1/4 of the total travel as we have the shortest of front ends, then play with the oil level from there, otherwise you will chase your tail trying to figure out what you did wrong and most likly sell the bike like another member did recently as he wanted to make too many changes in one go.
