Well I'm no expert, just learnt from going to the track when I could & have changed gearing myself made no difference for me personally but on the chassis rear wheel dyno it showed more Hp with tall gearing & less Hp with lower gearing at the track I got better traction out the hole with lower gearing, but the shift point came up really quick. With higher gearing got easier to shift but could not get traction. But for me on a big twin HD trap speed only changed when I tuned more HP & that did not always mean a quicker time. That depends on the rider .
now I'm bait confused as I took my stock carb year 2000 Buell Cyclone to dyno just to check what I got not tune it as at track I could only run 12's speed was good time a bit slack this Buell came to me with USA gearing but it's stock just I put big bore SE manifold on & a bobby woods 43.5 rebel carb I had laying around on & has Buell race ignition module Buell race carbon air kit otherwise stock put it on a dyno jet 250i that is normally conservative with numbers it made 92HP 78TQ got operator to back off @ 6500 had a smooth long tq curve & hp climbed smooth too I could show u but don't know how to post pic's it's just 74 inch willbe down track in two weeks again & going on a 700k day ride on weekend
hi john i would be happy with 92 hp as stock motor only @ 6500 you can spin them up too 7500 all day if you want too , we have the Fraser new 72 Sporty 1200 c.c. up & running - in that i ported & polished the heads on feels pretty good for a 1200 needs a tune only 350 klms old bike atm
Bob will have to get you to ride it for me, but will see if i can set that shift light right & try gettingout the hole with more rev than idle speed.
will be good to see that Frazers Sporty at the track, see if some of these guys hear are game or just too scared to try, maybe they know we got fast girls on Harleys too i remember Manda Bollan from QLD up at Willowbank she could run low 11's with fast speeds on a stock frame carb 1200 Sporty & shift first to second with front wheel off the ground.
it's still hard with no wheelie bar no air shift no ignition cut out, wait till you get it to the track first time you will see, takes time to learn your bike, thats why i like it it's hard. when you get even more HP & TQ gets even harder
ok guys here is my dyno run, nrhs 1250 build
This is my Buell Cyclone, has a Bobby Woods 43.5 Reble CV carb (modified cv44 ) has Buell race carbon aircleaner. Lighting inning module. Buell inch collector 2 into
2 into 1 head pipe & what ever? Stainetune muff, was on bike when I got it but daddyracer56 fixed it for me. I just asked to get a base run on friends dj250i
was no tuning nothing, just a 1200 with Buell Thunderstorm plus few trick's Cow @ L A Cycles did. & only has stock cam's & it's a carb not EFI
Good HP & TQ for a little 77 cubic inch SF, the Air Quality is realy good to we mostly only get it about 29 here in Sydney they got 30.
i like the Hammer offering too all looks good, & the XR has the XB Buell heads they look really good & intake port floor higher flows good. they are an improvement over the Thunderstorm for sure. when will you put yours on Dyno & show what you got? taking dyno's off US sights ok but we want to see Aussie Horse's like Black Caviar.
Cheers
ps i think the XR is a good bike but the stock air intake could be improved on.
Hey SmokeW, they just did the one run to get a base as was thinking about doing cams, but it looked good as it was.also it's in mph but don't know why, could get them to do rpm or time it ( i prefer timed as shows me in real terms how quick it will respond on street. but all i told opperator is just take it to 6,500 in fourth gear , as that's easy on motor , and thats it, looks like it was still going up but i would expect it to drop off not long after 6,500. it's a lot of fun on street, i can now control how high the front wheel goes off lights with my clutch. got gear shift reverse ( one up four down ) love it, but not many people like Buell's. i can ride this all day & have.
L A Cycle at Hoxton Park's Dyno
just help finnish a new 72 sporty with all the good S/Eagle gear 1200 c.c. 94hp = 11.7 sec 1/4 time's @ 123 mph, not tuned proper as yet
whats does 'all teh good SE gear' include? Im thinking i should have similar numbers as i have a 2012 48 with stage 1 SE intake, tuner and slip ons.
s/eagle heads + high comp pistons , 575 s/e cam etc
Outstanding Bob, what cams did Mark & Peters roaring Sportys use? & did they just have the CV40 Carb? i can remember watching them they flew was fun.
hi john on mark's 1200 twin sport roadracer we only put N8 Andrews back then on the modified stock 40m.m. CV carb only , pieters 1200 had S/E 536 lift cams on 40 m.m. CV carb
thanks Bob, what cams did your road racing sporty have?
stock cams 1997 model 883 , roaring sporties / twinsports 883 was the rule's stock engine's just s/e moudle ign box , modified stock 40m.m. carb & 2 into 1 exh 58 to 63 hp @ the back wheel depend's how good your valve seats were etc, if you had more than 64 hp you were cheating
was hoping to see a few dyno's from the 1250cc & 90cubic inch builds have you all got cold feet from the weather?
cheers
Hey Krash,My 90" is nearly ready to fire up...will have to put some miles into it then Im goin to Lushy's for dyno.
that will be great Slap
