    Hi all,

i have a 2009 streetbob 96inch, stage 1 SE A/C, SE 254e cams powercommander V and V&H Straight shot exhaust system. My problem is I just fitted the 254e cams and had it dyno tuned to get the full benifit of the cams (and because it was running like a pig). As soon as the Dyno guys saw the bike with the V&H full system straight shots they both told me that they didnt like my chances of getting any more HP out of the bike because the pipes are shit! and that they have even had bikes lose  up to14 HP with V&H short shots, long shots and straight shots etc. (big radius were ok).

when the bike was dynoed the results were very disapointing as the bike only made 1 more HP more the stock and could not breath above 3000rpm. the bike did have an increase in torque but as far as the tuner was concerned it should make a lot more in both areas. we took the A/C off to see if it was the cleaner restricking air flow but it made no difference, and alls that happens after 3000rpm is the air/fuel mixture gets richer so the tuner has recommended i get rid of the straight shots and stick a set of slip on mufflers on it to see if it makes any difference (S&S,SE,Rush,Freedom).

so my question is to everyone, has anyone else experienced this with their bike and how did they solve it or, does anyone know what would be stopping the bike from making more HP and more torque ( i beleive it made 89 ft of T ) and the bike did not seem to rev up as quickly as it shouls have either.

when the cams were installed i had the 5K service done, which included plugs, K & P reusable oil filter, SE clutch spring.

ANY ADVICE WOULD BE MUCH APRECIATED.

maybe out by 1 tooth. Hilly is right about the pipes though. A 2-1 system gets the best results. 60kph is what it is. no matter hat pipes you have on...

mate, im running v& h slip ons,,on my 2006 streetbob , the bike runs like a champ with them on, really screams,,bit loud.
ive had plenty of other combo's, but swear by standard header pipes & full lenth slip ons..great pick up & momentum in the high rev range...

    Thanks kickinon,

i have looked at the V&H 3inch slip on muffler (not the straight shot slip on) and i think they would do the job. i had a 1200c sporty years ago with stock headers and screamin eagle 2 slip on mufflers, and it had a far better note than the straight shots full system i have now, so i am leaning toward S&S slash cut mufflers. You said your slip on's are a bit loud but i dont mind the pipes being loud, as long as there not anoyingley loud, do you have the straight shot slip on's or the 3inch mufflers?

I had considered putting a 2-1 system but a mate of mine had them, love the power, but really quietened the bike down so he swapped back as he said he likes the traditional Harley sound and i tend to agree.

l have the straight shot slip ons, l like the look ,good power low,mid & high. they have a very good note l like a lot, they are loud compared to other systems like 2into ones, slash cuts, se slip ons, etc, when l use to leave home at 6am it bothered me a bit about the noise, no ones complained but it must wake them, 2-1s like you say dont do it in looks or note, but would make the best power going by those that have them ,it costs a lot of money to swap & change pipes ,trial & error, as you know,,,l wish you luck with your choice & hope you get it right the first time...
