Fitted the Cobra along with SE air, Bassani 2/1, Woods 222 cams...pulls like a 16yo schoolboy on the net, right from 2000 to 5500 rpm...effing wicked!!!

    Running Cobra settings of 1,10,9

Anybody else got Cobra experince as I still have some small surigng at 2 - 2500 rpm...if I cant fix it I wont worry to much but there is a lot of heavy traffic riding here at low rpm

Cheap shit fuel is subsidized at around 50 cents, good fuel called Pertamax is around $1.4 / l

Why....thinking about coming for a run?

Mate I've got a Cobra Fi2000r fuel module on my 2009 harley dresser. Aftermarket slipons and high flow air filter only, (Stage 1).  The factory default settings are , pot 1, green, 1.5  , pot 2 yellow, 5  , pot 3 red, 5  .   I have the green pot 1 set at 3.  Bike goes well , no problems.   I see you have pot  settings  at 1,,  10,  9  .  The yellow and red pots seem high,  whats your milage ???    As pot 2 (yellow ) is where we do most of our riding, I would drop half a turn at a time , go ride , and see if  any difference. If not repeat the procedure , when you feel surging , lagging, decal popping, adjust yellow pot back up half a turn until bike is running smooth again.  You will probably find you will get better milage.  As your bike has aftermarket cams , (Stage 2),  you may need to tweek the pots after a few rides.

Google , "Adjusting Cobra fuel module pot and dials",  you should find more  detailed info than I have given on how to dial in the Cobra module.   The Cobra ,(there are many similar), are good basic fuel  adjusting moduels.  Anyway you seem happy with it.   PS, dont get confused with the new Cobra Power Pro module when searching, at this is a self tunning , (more expensive unit).

Hey Bro, thanks for the detailed mail. I have played with the settings increasing them all up to 10 and back down again - long job

The Woods cams allow for a lot, lot more fuel at low to mid range and just  a lot more at high rpm. Fixed all the hestitaing and top end loss of power & hestitaing issues, but not the low rpm surging. Fuel economy is OK too

Overall I have been lucky with my choices as they deliver what I want, great low to mid range power with wicked acceleration. No issues here with emmissions or noise either so lucky in that area

Its the Green setting pot that I cant figure out too well, but positon 1 seems best??

Ok Bali Biker, Try this when dialing in your Green Pot with the Cobra Fi2000r

    1. Warm up bike

    2. Set Green Pot to '0'

    3. Set bike up so you can hold throttle at  "2000 rpm". ( A friend would be handy)

    4. With your bike @ 2000 rpm , "slowly turn" the green pot up until the rpm's start to "decrease".  Then back off slightly until the rpm's are back to 2000 rpm's.

DONE !!      I assume you have the bike specific Cobra module for your bike  !!!!

G'Day Mark finally got around to replying after a lot of testing
If you turn the green pot very slowly you get an rpm drop at around position 5, but if you do it a little faster it comes in at around 2.5. With the green on 2.5, yellow pot turned back to 9 and the red back to 8 it runs hard and the seems to be the best combo of settings now, still surges a little around 2-2500 rpm but I think its the Woods 222 cams?
All good and now going onto my new bobber project with a 93 FXRS.......so you will see more on this later
Thanks for all the help cheers

Good to see you have your bike's  running well after all the dialing in of the Cobra moduel.  You may be right , the aftermarket cams maybe causing the surging in the 2-2500 rpm range. As I mentioned , there are a lot of "dial in" type fuel management moduels on the market, and unforturnatly you have to tweek them to get to the desired outcome, more so with extra motor upgrades, but with "stage 1" they do a good job.   Your next step if you want to see numbers, afr, etc , is take it to a dyno for an hours run, but I suppose that defeats the purpose I've buying a fuel module like the Cobra !!

If I can save some money , I was thinking of going to Bali next year , we could find a nice bar and discuss this matter a bit further !!!  Ride safe,

First the reason for the Cobra here is that I can tune it and no need for a dyno. I would also expect the cabling hookup to be exactly the same
Secondly life here is pretty crazy and probably always has been for tourist types, that why we love it. However living here is a challenge and the up side ir no rules and the down side is the same. The wonderful land of Oz can look tame and a bit to sanitized after you have lived here for a while but don't forget you guys live in the greatest place one earth.
Lastly im hoping to head off to the US again this year for the 110 anniversary thing with a hire group out of Vegas. Any of you guys goin too?
