1200 heads do not have a squish shelf , but you can have then modified , i have done a few set's , or you can mod your own 883 heads they have squist self , if you want good performance buell heads are the go with a bit of porting & mod's etc use the 1250 kit not the 1200, , also use the 1200 front pulley when you go modified you will have the power to pull it,
i think the Buell thunderstorm heads or the later XB12 have bigger inlet valves , i have only seen inside the pre 04 models 1200
Howdy, 170km/h jeez, bet your helmet strap was pulling on your chin!! That would have been interesting....
I'd check around for labour costs, I had a quote prepared by Harley Heaven when I bought my Iron earlier this year. The quote was for the 1200 SE conversion, and labour only came to $880. If you're on a budget spend the time not the money to get a better deal.
As far as warranty goes, ask the other two conversion companies what they offer, plus ask an installer here in Oz what they'd charge for install and cover. Ask around, word of mouth is pretty good when it comes to recommending a business. If they are shit then they won't get much work or be around for long. Your bike is 2007 so won't be under a bike warranty, if it were me i'd look arouind a bit more. You'll get more performance gains (lighter pistons, better cams, matched pistons that are gapped correctly to your cylinders) with aftermarket stuff if that's what you're after.
I think Hammer make non-highlighted fins for your cylinder upgrade, but i'll leave that to you to check out.
The other benefit of a bigger motor is the extra torque, useful for over taking, pulling out of corners etc...it's not always about HP....
Best of luck,
Cheers

1200 gearing would be better as the 883 gearing will be reving too hard on the expressway's eap up around 120 klms per hr + be good for around town only
well if your not going over 100 kph then a 250 c.c. will do & cheaper on reg'o, my old 1200 would do 110 kph in 1st gear
Go for the icons Aussie made and u can get them in 2 days from Albury, definitely made a big difference on my sportster.
