The SE kit has 1200 heads & will get you up to XL1200 spec with 883 gearing.

Both NRHS & Hammer Performance use Carillo forged pistons made to spec. Both sell new 1200 heads with whatever level of headwork you want or you can send them your 883 heads to get worked (or if you can find some cheap 1200 heads even better). You can order through both NRHS or Hammer websites or just give either a ring, get some advice while you're there & organise it all over the phone. Expect to pay around $125 for shipping for a 1250 kit alone. I have had stuff from both companies & shipping is trackable & fully insured.

Waz on here (883n Harley Convert) has done the NRHS kit & is in your neck of the woods? He may be able to steer you in the right direction for an install.

    Cheers,
    Slap.

1200 heads do not have a squish shelf , but you can have then modified ,  i have done a few set's , or you can mod your own 883 heads they have squist self , if you want good performance  buell heads are the go with a bit of porting & mod's etc use the 1250 kit not the 1200,  , also use the 1200 front pulley when you go modified  you will have the power to pull it,

DR are you referring to the earlier 1200 hemi heads as I've read they're shithouse for headwork? 04+ XL1200 heads have a bathtub chamber & flat squish shelf which can be played with. Buell XB heads are identical. And apparently new replacement XB heads are the same casting as 07+ XL1200 heads?

    Cheers,

i think the Buell  thunderstorm  heads or the later XB12 have bigger inlet valves ,     i have only seen inside the pre 04 models 1200

Look good, maybe get rockers powdercoated while they are doing the work? It will draw the eye toward your engine....how much is the kit and install?

Howdy, 170km/h jeez, bet your helmet strap was pulling on your chin!!  That would have been interesting....

I'd check around for labour costs, I had a quote prepared by Harley Heaven when I bought my Iron earlier this year.  The quote was for the 1200 SE conversion, and labour only came to $880.  If you're on a budget spend the time not the money to get a better deal.

As far as warranty goes, ask the other two conversion companies what they offer, plus ask an installer here in Oz what they'd charge for install and cover.  Ask around, word of mouth is pretty good when it comes to recommending a business.  If they are shit then they won't get much work or be around for long.  Your bike is 2007 so won't be under a bike warranty, if it were me i'd look arouind a bit more.  You'll get more performance gains (lighter pistons, better cams, matched pistons that are gapped correctly to your cylinders) with aftermarket stuff if that's what you're after.

I think Hammer make non-highlighted fins for your cylinder upgrade, but i'll leave that to you to check out.

The other benefit of a bigger motor is the extra torque, useful for over taking, pulling out of corners etc...it's not always about HP....

    Best of luck,

    Cheers

Yeah both Hammer & NRHS do silver jug 1250 kits to match your heads & rocker boxes.

With the 1250 using 883 heads & some N4/SE497 cams it'll still pull pretty hard & you should easily get over 70hp for about $300-$400 cheaper, unless you can get a real good deal on the SE kit ($1500 is RRP?). You'll still get a warranty on the install as well.

Good luck whichever way you go.

Hammer are in Sandpoint, Idaho. I've had 5 shipments from them, payment is easy & all my packages have arrived within about 7-8 business days. They are excellent to deal with.

+1 highlighted fins, won't look out of place at all. IMO black will contrast too much with the silver, highlighted is a good blend.

Take a look at the newer 1200 custom & 72 sportys for a rough idea.

1200 gearing would be better  as the 883 gearing will be reving too hard on the expressway's eap up around 120 klms per hr + be good for around town only

well if your not going over 100 kph then  a 250 c.c. will do & cheaper on reg'o, my old 1200 would do 110 kph in 1st gear

Yeah that highlighted kit looks great. I would have preferred the highlighted look for mine but had to work with solid black heads I found cheap.
