New Apes on the Fat

So today I decided to just bit the bullet put some apes on the fatty!

I went down to the dealer and they had an Ape and riser set, but sold me the apes on their own.  I thought there were 10s, but I think they are 12s.  All of the cables and lines are at their limit, and although I have only been for a quick ride, they weel OK.   Maybe a little high, so I might roll them back a bit and see how they feel.

Ended up taking me about 4 fucking hours!!  I took my time, plus I have Heat Demons in the bars, and they had to all be resoldered.  :(

    Anyways... Enjoy!!

Yeah man, the seem a little high for me in the current spot. I will roll them back to be inline with the forks, I just hope they don't make the grips too close.

The look the goods! Better than the stainless crap that HD put on at the factory!!!

    Cheers

Sparra - I am not sure I can get smaller risers than I have! The 2010 fat comes with 1.1/4 inch bars all the way through. Have seen plenty for 1 inch. But not 1.1/4

    Thanks Peg.

I have been out to the workshop tonight and rolled them back to be inline with the forks now, and it looks heaps better. I don't know how they will feel until I take her for a spin tomorrow.

I think I am going to have to order a new upper brake line as I can't run it through the holder directly below the trees. There is not enough length.

    Hi Lads,

I went for a small ride today and they feel tops! They seem to give me better control - Or maybe it's just a mindset, but it certainly feels better.

If the weather holds up, I will take it for a longer ride this week and let you know how it feels, but so far I am liking it.

PEG - I did have the 4 inch Pull Back Risers and they were perfect, until I raked the front end - then it put them too close. If you are interested, I will probably be selling them.

     Hey lads

For those interested - here are some picks of the bars on the Fat.  Also... the last one shows a nice easy mod to do to clean up the cables coming out of the bars!

The silver tubing is actually chrome flexi shower tube from Bunnings!! :)

    OK - For those interested...

I just 60kms or so this morning and I must say, I am liking these new bars. It was a bit hard to tell on riding position as I had a backpack on, but I can say that it has made a huge difference to the handling. In that, I mean, it seems to give me a lot more control. There is this one sweeper that I travel on a lot, and it use to give me the shits as it's long and tightens, but this morning I hooked in and it felt awesome.

I don't know why that is - but it is. :)

OUCH! I bought the bars from Robbos- Charged me $400 for them, and I fitted myself, and I think $400 was too much - But I wanted them for that weekend. :(

It's not hard to do yourself mate. Even getting the pins out of the connectors is piss easy. I just watched some youtube vids.

If you are canberra local - happy to help. :)
