My only piece of advice about that model is get a new seat. I sat on one and theres no way I could ride that on a trip anymore than 30 mins. If I had the money for a 2nd Harley I'd prob get the 72, they look like fun. Good luck with it if you get it

I really like the look of the 72 . If I owned a pub I,d put one in a glass box , would look cool . Practically , the small tank is a fucker . When the sporties were carby , they would do 160km approx on a full tank . Timing fuel stops would have you filling up every 100 km if you couldn,t make to the next stop ( I know what I mean it,s hard to type it ) . If you like the Sportster , the 1200 custom has a larger tank .

I dont mind the look of the 72 but dont know if i would buy one.

The world would be a boring place if we were all the same.

    G-Day Everyone

    Thanks for the replys

I no what you mean about the penut tank, not much in there, and to be honest that was my main concern with the bike, having to fill up all the time, and ive looked at the sportie customs, and I no they have a bigger tank but I dont like them as much as the "72" and I like what I like.

So on the strength of that, Ive rung up and put a deposit on one! and it will be waiting for me when I get home from work in 10 days! and I cant wait to get on her and get a few miles under my belt ( between fule stops hahah)

..now Im thinking a nice set of pipes will be next.. got my eye on some Vance Hines big radius 2into2 any thoughs?? anyone no a good exhaust places near the sunshine coast??

    Cheer for the info everyone

Congrats Tony. Reckon theyre a good looking ride. Agree with Hmmm, needs old school looks. Maybe upswept fishtails? Just my thoughts, shes your ride, make it how you want. We're on sunny coast too and have always got a good deal from Jase and the boys at SCHD. Is that where bike came from? Green hard candy? Mal at Bikers Life is pretty good too. Im home from work in another week, so if we see a 72 on the road we'll know its you! Where on the coast r u? We're on Kenilworth Road.

after living with a 48 for a little while...the 7.9L tank isnt a horrible as i thought it would be. Yes if you want to head out of town you need to plan the stops but once run in you get easily over 100k's before the fuel light comes on and another 30+ before dry.

with that said ive got the 12.5L going on  next week haha.

As for the exhaust get some flashy pipes to keep up the style. Maybe even the SE slip ons in chrome.

Speakin of adventurous Wimbo , Could just strap a jerrycan to ya back Tony , but then they would probably try to ping ya for bein one of them suicide bombers as well as havin loud pipes ?
At least you will be on first name basis with all the servo attendants , gollygosh hey ?
jus kiddin` , couldn`t imagin havin to fill up every 100kms or so though , that`s fillin up @ 10 times to get from Sydney to Brisbane makin it one long and paranoid sorta trip , i got sick of stopping every 250kms or so with the softail , the roadking gets over 350kms which is good , as ya usually feel like stretching the legs after about that anyway ?
Would take a lot of pre planning mate hey !

I hear what you guys are saying about the tank but Im not to fussed, Im sure I'll be doing more short pub run's and just cruzing around the hills than long trips, and if i want  there are plenty of bigger peanut tanks out there so I can get a 10L or a 12L if i want.

Ive ordered the Denim black one, I think it looks sic! a bit understated more bober/chopper I think, dont get me wrong the hard candy colours are really nice! and the one I test rode was the lucky green and it was so nice but not my style.

Im getting it from morgan and wackers gold coast,  they seem good and gave me a good deal so im happy, I would have got it from the sunny coast harley but there said they would have to order it and I mite not get it befor xmass blaa blaa.... so I rang around and the goldy had a denim black one so its now mine.

pick it up on Wednesday so fingers crossed ill be rideing round maroochydore that arvo.
