Started life on the good old Postie CT110. XT 125, DT 200, TT350. Then road from there. Still like the old dirt clappers but prefer a thumper to a zinger.
I got to aggree that photo is awesome, the moore i look at it the moore i get back from it, ciggy in hand and the look of not a worry in the world, Brilliant
No offence but it looks like he may have done a bit of boxing in his earlier days too.
Still riding a 2007 wrf 450, feeling old last couple of rides, thinking about selling it.
here is a pic of my beast, second one is mates bikes at my place before loading up for a weekend of riding
My first ride was some little Honda turd. Then an XR 75, Suzuki RM100, RM 125, RM250. Got off them for a while and then Kawasaki KLX250 then 400. Had a YZ 80 and 125 in the mix. Had a ball growing up. Oh the pain and injuries I wouldn't swap for anything.
Every kid should do it!
I had a Honda cr80 then a Hodaka 110 which I have never heard of before or since, but even as a young fella on dirt bikes I spent most of my time on the bitumen trying to go as far away as I could, by the way what the fuck is a Hodaka? It sucked.
Ida thought everyone starts on dirt bikes. No?
Learned on a Yammie YZ80B and finished up racing a KX250A4 for two years solid. Gave it up to Surf.
A coupla years back I got into Vintage Motocross or VMX as it's known and bought a small stable of 1970's motocrosser bikes.
Unfortunately I've been smashed up with too many injuries so the VMX thing didn't eventuate into racing again as I'd planned/hoped. I got into Harleys instead.
But if any of you mob are interested, be aware there's a huge VMX scene in this Country. Check out VMX magazine in the Newsagents.
gotta show the beast hey love the mud
The first bike I ever rode as a four or five year old was a friend of the families Z50 back in the mid 70's and from there I rode bikes whenever the oldies would let me at local shows and amusement parks etc. In '83 we visited friends of the family in Inverell and they had a YZ80H and a GT80 (can't remember what year) and after that the bug well and truly nailed me and I managed to convince the parents to get me a second hand YZ80J in early '84. From there I got a job and traded the J in for a KX80F2 as a run out model at the end of '84. A mate of mines older brother had a CR500RE and wanted to have a go on the KX80, so of course I had to have a go on the 500 and a couple of things occurred; the first being that I was absolutely fucked if I could kick the thing over; and the second being that once I....well....he...got it started, it scared the bejesus out of me. If I so much as looked at the throttle, that fuckin thing would fishtail and throw 15m roosts, or mono, or do both at the same time! I had eyes like fuckin dinner plates and looked like an ewok on a speeder-bike..... From that moment on I absolutely, positively had to have one of those scary bastards, but that didn't come til a bit (lot) later than I'd have liked. Anyway I digress, in late '85 I picked up an IT200L and in '86 a KX250D2 which was another absolute rocket ship and a little bit too much to handle at the time so I traded it in for another end of model run out CR125RG and started racing. I raced moto-x, flat-track (short circuit) and super-x in '87 through til '91 when a change in employment didn't leave me much in the way of spare time for racing. During that period I had CR125RJ in '88 and CR250RK in '89. In '92 I traded the old CR250RK in for my first road bike, an RGV250M and didn't own another dirt bike til '00 an RM250Y. In '08, the circumstances were right and the opportunity finally came up to grab one of those angry trench digging 500's, a '01 model KX500E13 which I still have. It might have taken 24 years, but I eventually got one.... After all this talk about dirt bikes, I think I'm gonna have to dust off the green rocket and hit the track tomorrow!
