but it gets there quicker then most bikes and the terrain we ride in you could do no faster then that,single trails fire trails, creeks. shit like that,
80- 100 ks at the max and only few can do them speeds through this scrub

Before the KX 500 I had an 86 KX250 first year with the rear disc brake not only did it  go like a cut snake it actually stop, compared to my 83 RM 125

You don't like it that you son prefers a different bike to you.
He got the bike at what looks like a great price if it is new.
The new bike has an issue
The MoCo will fix it free if it's with in 2 years of purchase.
They will collect it from where ever it is provided it is with in 200kms of a dealer if it's within 2 years of new purchase.
Which if you had phoned M&W with a half descent attitude they would have arranged for you even after shop hours.

With the evo/twinky thing, love my current bike, never had an issue, smooth and responsive, my 84 evo, custom softy as well, used to have ignition issues, a few components would shit themselves every 20,000 ks or son, but allthough I cant put my finger on it, I regret selling it and wished ide kept it and had both.

Just so we're all clear, I have nothing against any Harley, old or new. My "dinosaur" comment was about reliable modes of transport, not about evos being good or bad, young or old. After seeing a mates leg shattered when a kick starter kicked back I'm just happy with any bike that has electric start

 Me thinks that the only real test that could be done is to compare stock evo with stock twin cam after afew years of riding in all conditions, once you modify a motor, all comparison becomes irrelevant. No stock motor will last very long when bouncing round the rev limitter.

I don't know what the fuss is either, they both seem fine to me
