After doing a "Not at fault" claim with Famous insurance my renewal has gone from $445 to $751! I rang them to give them an opportunity to requote but was not so politely told thats the deal. Shame as they were really good to deal with.

Dont forget their name  Famous motor insurance.

Try RACV, very well priced and good to deal with.
Otherwise if your over 50 perhaps try Apia, they can do some good deals.

Racv is Victoria only, Racq in Qld dont insure bikes.

    Swan Insurance? Failing that, Insuremyride?

I rang a couple of years ago to re-structure my insurance (they were charging the same, but the amount they would pay me in an accident had almost halved) and the guy almost laughed at me. He told me very few people actually follow through when they say they are going to change, and I told him I was obviously one of the very few and hung up on him. I spent the next 10 minutes getting a new, cheaper quote (and the payout was more) from someone else and when I hung up the phone it immediatley rang again - my old insurer saying they would help me. My turn to laugh.

I am with Swann, and when I got my renewal I rang and told them I was not happy and I wanted the bike insured for more - they agreed and the premium even came down.

Pays to ring them every year at renewal time.

NRMA I used. No restrictions on use and cheaper than Swann.
My son has insurance with Swann for his car loan if he become unemployed or sick. Waste of money. You can only make one claim per year so if you lose your job twice forget the insurance kicking in the second time.

I WILL NEVER INSURE WITH SWANN AGAIN IN MY LIFE.

I was taken out by a ute and my 08 fxstc was written off. It took over 2 and a half months for them to pay out my agreed value. Made ME pay the excess even when there was a police report stating that the ute was at fault and was charged even then swann told me that it was a single vehicle claim and flat out refused to ever contact me. I was treated like total shit when I called them trying to chase it up and even when I made a complaint to their manager I was told I was wrong and they didn't believe I was treated like I was. I had to call them every morning at 9:01am on the dot to see what was happening and why they haddnt paid out yet. I would be told they were "far too busy and will call me back at 3pm that day"

NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN WILL I USE THEM!

Having said that though I now have a "not at fault" claim on my head now because of the wank that hit me. I looked up what it would cost for me to insure a new 2012 fxst 103" my quote from another company came back at $10,990 for 1 year of insurance! Yes you read that right $10,990 for 1 year! At that sort of money I'd have to finance the insurance and pay it off over 5 years haha. The joys of being 20/21 and loving Harleys. Insurance before my crash was $2000. It was pricey but I could understand that being young I'd have to pay more but it's get better every year.

Once again incase i wasnt clear FUCK SWANN INSURANCE!

It sounds good at the start but just a heads up. Swann are by far the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I was hit by a car on my 08 fxstc had full comp on it and a police report stating that the driver was at fault and not me. It took 3 months to settle my claim, I was out of pocket for a few thousand dollers since I had to pay my excess (even though he was at fault) and also keep paying my loan out while they "looked into it" it was the last thing I needed being out of work for 4 months while I tried to recover from my injuries. I had to call swann every day to try and chase my claim up, I never once received a call from them. Even tried to make a complaint about one of the staff members to a manager and I was told that they didn't believe me and that I'd be black listed from their phone system/not take my call. Be warned, super cheap quote but got forbid you actually need your insurance one day, it's really not worth the hassle trying to deal with a bunch of deadshit cunts like swann.

Greasy, I only had one issue with Swann when I had a car fail to give way and I T boned it.
I didn't get my eccess back until the had contacted the at fault party and could not get their details.
I got their full name, phone number and address and gave them the info. I did think that was slack on there behalf.
everything else from claim to finished, they payed, even with some changes in what was needed that was not in the original quote.

    hi,

i with Insure My Ride, bike went over a while ago, minor stuff, they were pretty good to deal with, the premium was about the same as SWANN at the time i rang around, renewal coming in a few months,so will let you know if they try and stitch me up

keep in mine its rubbish when they say you choose the repairer, take it to your repairer etc, they took mine to Geelong Harley who wanted 5k, the assessor rang and said we whip it out of there to another repairer who done for 2.5k

work was fine, genuine parts, went and inspected bike prior to them delivering home

    thanks

QBE for me. About $600 each year so far, got cheaper when I moved from QLD to VIC. Go figure.
