Considering the price in the US at $15. a qrt I think again Aust are getting ripped of by the importers...Last time I looked they were asking $70 at Sprint Auto Parts...

I've been using it for five years, absolutely brilliant product. Gear changes are smooth, and you can leave it in for ages.
I've bought from this guy many times, highly recommended!

Any one use redline ATF in the primary?  Which onel is best for the ultra in the redline? The high temp ATF, or the D4 Synthetic ATF?

For anyone that is having trouble getting Shockproof, or simply doesn't want to use it, there is in my opinion, a brilliant Aussie company providing a range of full synthetic gear oils that fit the bill, and it's easy to source.

Nulon offer three synthetic gear oils, 75/85, 75/90, and a 80/140.

I've been running them for a coupla years now and can't fault them.

Good stuff when cold, easy shifting, even find neutral when downshifting if ya want.

And, being synthetic handles the long runs and extreme heat really well.

(and no, I wouldn't run a gear oil in the primary either)

    Agree Krash

I have run redline in my dyna box since new, when I craked the Gbox case and had to replace, the gear cluster looked brand new, I was impressed to say the least.
This dyna has been 100hp+ since birth, currently 135hp,with 140-145hp around the corner, gearbox shifts like a new one still. Dyna has been abused since birth also, draggged and shagged.

    Stix.

Any feedback on how it goes in a sporty. I'm just wondering what effect it has on the clutch plates?

    Interesting thread we have here

I have been using ( here in Perth ) Redline Heavy Shock in Harley gearboxes for near 15 years now

I've posted that in multiple threads over the years.

Even in my EVO 5 speed(s) and especially in my 6th speed bikes.Quietens the 5th gear whine a little too.

( I've also used Amsoil heavy duty gear oil, depending on supply , if Coventry's have been out of Redline. )

I've put LOADS of guys onto the Redline product and have NEVER seen any transmission problems.

I think the mentioned WA Indy may just be a " Rock-oil " stockist or similar ???

Frasers only want you to use the " genuine" Harley product of course, haven't used it in 15 years myself !!

Remembering the "genuine" product is made by the most recently tendered supplier !!

Both good, it's just easier for me to collect Redline ( 5 k's to Coventry's ) whereas it's a 25 K drive to collect Amsoil.

Both are much the same price to me ( trade ) so it comes down to " easiest " or availability of stock

Where are you located Peg ? I do servicing from my home garage if you're in the Perth metro

    "LOOK AND LEARN" style servicing

This stuff ain't oil..is widely used in Motorsport and also the only gearbox lubricant recommended by baker for its gear sets and boxes. Some don't agree but it has served me very well in my 5 speed by turning it from a notchy beast to a smooth shifter.

is costly but never seems to break down.

The way i look at it is, if it's working well why change brands, a friend of mine uses Royal Purple says he is impressed with that but thats in a V Rod. this heavy shockproof is just gear box oil and its bloody thick i don't think it runs out when you pull drain plug. its a special oil for one job only.
