I am need of some advise please....

I am looking to purchase some 11 inch rear shocks for my iron to give it a lower look.

I have been quoted a price of $351 incl delivery.

I am keen to have a go at installing these myself...has anyone done this before and is it a straight forward process?

it looks as though it may be quite easy, happy to give it a shot.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    thanks

Johno, it's really easy to change them. You just need to support the back of the bike off the ground. You either use a bike lift, or tie downs around the rear fender. I used the tie downs with towels to protect the paint, and it worked easy. If you search this forum you will find a thread with pictures. Cheers, TC

I did mine myself mate pretty straight forward. You will just need a bike jack if you don't have only. I got one from super cheap auto for about $100.

I purchased Burly slammers from the states, in the end they cost me $3K in repairs, not the greatest touring shocks, might as well go ridgid.

As TC said man really easy to install, don't forget the loctite. I used 11" Progressive 412's on mine, heavy duty coz I'm a heavy bastard. I like the ride, will sometimes launch when hitting a rough patch but all in all pretty good for the price, think I paid about $240 inc post from US.

     That is a great result...

    thanks for the advice fellas,

i am going to give this a shot on the weekend.....I have been thinking about lowering the bike or sometime now and need to make the change now that I am better informed.

i have a jack I can modify OR I can try the tie own and towel padding you mentioned TC.

once again, it is great to have the opportunity to grab fast, accurate advice from a forum like this.

hey Deadwood, noted about the added cost in repairs.....I will keep that in mind....I never thought rigid would be an ideal solution....is that really a good way to go?

    Thanks again

( hey TC.....have you had any other mods done to your bike since we last had contact)?
