    Hey everyone

My wife Maree has a Softail Slim and shes having real probs with heat from the oil tank burning her leg. She's only short & the seat is really thin, so her leg sits pretty close.

Have ordered a crotch cooler from Capt Itch but it hasnt arrived yet. Also looking at fitting an oil cooler to help out. Never had anything to do with softails before so not sure whether this is a common prob or not.

    Any thoughts guy & girls?

IS the bike stock? If it is then half the problem will be that it is running lean from the factory. What year is the bike? An oil cooler will help a bit but in the end the crotch cooler that you have ordered will be the most benefit. As far as the bike running hot, a tune will help the bike run cooler aswell as putting on a oil cooler.

Bike is the new Slim. Stage 1 air SE Tuner V&H 3" slip ons Think its mainly the closeness of her leg to the tank that is the main prob

    Thanks  for the reply AJ56

I have never seen the slim but I'm thinking the forward controls are causing her problem with burning legs. If her legs are stretched to reach the pegs her calf's would be close to the oil tank ?. I would change the seating position with re-trimming or a new close reach type seat. Corbin Mustang or HD make them
    Good luck

    Retroman

thanx for the info. checked out the slip on coolers & they look like just the thing we need. Was quoted $500 from SCHD to supply & fit OEM inline cooler, so would save big $$$. Will check em out again when I get back home for my time off.

    Cheers Pete

    Thanks Hogbag

Slim has floorboards, so the reach isnt as great as fc's. Its the inside of her thigh thats copping the heat. Cant really change the seat as she's only 5'2" tall and even though shes had the bike lowered I think a different seat would have her sitting too high to be flat-footed.

Thanks for the input anyway dude.
