Well
Started off in 87' rebuilding one of these that had been wiped out by my mate. He broke his leg in 7 places the first time he tried to ride it up his street. The ol' silver tank XT
A week after I finished rebuilding it some focker stole it. Only thing left was a steering lock lying on the ground
In 88' I purchased a GSXR 400. Buzzy little thing but it was as numble as hell, and I really learn't to ride the road on it.
Rode it for about 3 years and got in a heap of shit with the fuzz. Eventually they were pulling me over on sight. Lucky there was no points system then !
Had a break from riding (and all the fines) for a while and then bought one of these;
The first V four in a bike I think. It had 80,000 Km's on it when I bought it and was still going strong. Great engine, but honda screwed up the next couple of models. Don't believe the hype though, although it was quick it handled pretty poorly.
Great post Boofhead. You have a lot of obvious passion for your bikes!!!!!!

Wow
Nice list nobody.
How did you find the reliability of the Dukes ? I always hear people whinging about their reliability and particularly the electrical problems they used to have but I don't know if it's just gossip.
I've had a ride on a GSX-R750 and a ZXR-750 (89' model I think, had the vaccuum tubes running through the tank . I was particularly impressed with the handling of the Kwaka and the power curve, which seemed pretty linear to me.
Cheers
Boof
Hi Boof
Ya end up with a list like this if ya hang around motorcycles all your life
The early Duke electricals were pretty bad,but not as bad as the British bikes with their Lucas electricals, but it wasn't unheard of to get on your bike and put the key in and have the ignition switch come apart in your hand, great start to a ride by the way,I had my old 900ss rewired and that fixed all the gremlins, back in those days that was one fast motorcycle
The later Pantah and 4 valve Dukes the electrics are fine.
The ZXR 750 Kwakas were the predecessor to my ZX7R actually it was a ZX7RR to call it by its proper name, and that was the best handling road bike I have ever ridden. And by that I mean on the road, not on the track.I just never got upset by broken road surfaces or potholes or bumps and corrugations. When they came out they weren't the fastest bike top speed wise, but on the road they were superb and they weren't any slouch speed wise with a top speed of around 280kph.
Hey Dazza
Nice Pics,I like the purple on the last one,Purple always looks good.
