gday bought a new speedo tach for the fat bob 12months ago all sweet till couple weeks back light comes on when you turn the ignition on start up all cool but after riding round for 5/10 min gauge light is dead as a maget then might come on/off couple times during the ride.everything else works on the gauge exept the lights for night riding.

Had a look under the unit pulled the plug in/out put extra cable ties to deal with the vibration still the same what do you boys think the next move should be? anyone else had similar problem.

 

 

 

 

sounds like a bad earth/connection to me. If it goes on and off, a contact is not Being made somewhere. Or a faulty globe/LED.

Its a genuine HD speedo tach the one with the two needles small tach and 600 light display options sounds like a trip to the local HD dealer f@#k thats gona cost.

Put the old one back in and run it for a while.
If it works fine, you have your answer.
Some of the new HD stuff is made in India, and is questionable quality.

 Try and claim warranty if your dealer lets you.

Even if the dealer says it's out of warranty and refuses to fix it, scream "ACCC". The manufacturer may have 12 months warranty but under consumer laws the product must last a reasonal expected life span for that product. So if a speedo is meant to last longer that 12months you have a claim. It will cost you a few dollars and some time but this one is a no brainer. Any questions PM me. I deal with this shit everyday.

Swopped gauges over the original gauge worked sweet.So the lights are on the blink on the new $300 gauge i purchased 12 months ago.Anybody know where i can get this looked at? it was bought from the US

Glaz, these days it's really not cost effective to repair low cost items due to labour $$.
Does it look like it could be dismantled easily ?
If you think you can get it apart, I could possibly take a look at it for you, but no guarantee's .

Man can't believe that im so pissed off about this feel like hitting it over the fence with my sons cricket bat.The part # is 70900071 HD speedo tach i wounldn't buy one made in sweden i think.

Thing that really pisses me off is i bought a different model the orange digtal unit and that fucked up so i exchanged for this 70900071 unit and thats fuck to NOT HAPPY JAN

Im going to contact the harley shop in the states and have a massive winge see how i go.
