Been on here for awhile and thought I would share some insights on my new adventure.
After years of jap bikes I thought I would live my childhood dream and buy a Harley. Bugger me! I have never had such an urge to spend all my money on anything I've owned before. I can't stop buying shit for my baby. It's funny...........if I look at it from a clinical view, I have never owned a slower, heavier and worse handling bike in my life. What's funnier though is the fact I love her so much! It's the culmination of every young mans dream (well almost). Tell you a funny story... I was away on business interstate, so my wife knowing I would miss my baby dressed her in lingerie (don't ask) and sent me a photo. Gooooood wooooman.
The great thing about this site is that people get together that come from all walks of life, with different ideals and all chasing a different dream. The glue that binds everyone together is their version of "The Dream". We get a kick out living out our fantasies......A non biker friend said that I am an old fart chasing my youth. I told him "If I'm chasing my youth I must be running fucking fast, and If I'm running fucking that fast then I'll take my chances that I can outrun death"
Peace and safety my brothers
It's nigh impossible to explain to some one who doesn't own a Harley what the connection between you and your bike is, the more you try to relate it to them the more their face becomes contorted with confusion, I have a mate in Cairns who rode a VStrom and he was always giving me shit about my Harley I tried in vain to explain to him what it was to have one or two, he one day went to the dealership and took a road king for a test ride, he came back to me and said it was to heavy and didn't handle, HE BOUGHT IT THE NEXT WEEK! one ride and he was hooked, now he says fuck that Jap shit and he is rarely off it.
I think it's about the "Whole" being much more than the sum of the parts.
badcooky I was just thinking the same thing about a lot of those bikes being on the market sooner than later, I was on the ride on doing some mowing (love that!!) just after that last post and the thing that was going through my head was the amount of fakes there are in this forum yeah they might own a harley but they don't ride them by that I mean they parade around town hoping every one is looking at them and sometimes they go away for the weekend as a group of wankers yeah their certainly hard core, I,m affraid there aren't many genuine bikers here I should of realised that after my very first post, to many sons of anacrhy wanna be's.
Cheers bloke and remember ride hard
And here is me thinking it was about this.
HD Forums Australia is the number one Harley Davidson motorcycle discussion forum for Australia and New Zealand. This site is here to enable technical and motorcycle related discussions for the Australian and New Zealand regions. This site promotes, and is open to anyone with an attitude free approach to motorcycling.
So where do these so called fakes go then?, have you got a suggestion for them?. How does a new to the Lifestyle turn into a real biker? By selling his flash new bike and buying a 39 year old Real harley? or does he just start posting on here after 28 years of riding, and owning 18 different bikes like me to be allowed on here? I'm confused
Any one is allowed on here, not just a certain (must have old bike, must be current or ex clubbie, must have attitude). And im not defending anyone nor do i think anyone is pointing the finger at me but have a listen to what your saying. FFS give blokes a go. If they are a dickhead or you don't agree or like what they say, I think most people on here will work that out. Chill out and take a bex or two.
Anyway, i do need a kleenex cause ivé got a fuggin cold, That my say for the day.
And i thought the story had its merrits too. good job
I reckon we should start a poll
Whoes the baddest of the bad, so bad, that even bad people shake, rattle and roll, So bad that even the devil starts going to confession. So bad that even there wifes on there monthlies dont bitch. but keep on smilin.

Awesome link! Check it out lads.
Just thought id post this up, no jokes, just hononst response.
In the eighties to mid nineties, I worked in the Timor sea, on the Jabiru venture, skua venture, heli transferred on the challis venture often. Anyone on here worked up there at that time, love to here from you. at that time I used to live in Malak in Darwin. at that time, if any of u stayed in the malak caravan park, i was the bloke that lived in the old light blue Bedford bus with a few cartoon characters painted on it.
Where was I, Yea, On our off rotation, we sometimes used to ride from Darwin to Alice Springs. Still had the evo fxstc then. Used to stay at the Heavytree gap caravan park as it had a tavern there. so after many trips, got to know a few caravan park residents. Harley riders that is, and one bloke that rode Jap bikes, At that time many of you will remember when the jap manufactures where releasing new and faster models every 3 to 6 months to outdo competition.
This fella just loved speed and would get the newest fastest missile as soon as released, particularly as NT had an unrestricted speed limit out of built up areas at the time. but more importantly, he was a top bloke, first to jump into a bar brawl, funny as fuck, a real gem.
one time, he bought a new Yammy 1200, and talked me into going for a ride on it. I opened it up a bit, and fuck me, i was doing 285 ks and still pulling hard, Fuck me, i was too scared to lift up off the tank and backed off.
On one trip, two of us from Darwin and a few blokes from the caravan park decided to go to the rock for a couple days, in the morning, we all met out the front. As where about to head off, the caravan park harley riders come up and said that the jap rider had to ride at the rear of us all. ill admit here and know that as I was a bit younger then, Im guilty as charged with having a bit of an ego and maybe played follow the leader back then, but when these blokes said this to me about the jap rider, i said, fuck you, we dont play do as you told and told em to shove the trip to the rock. a mates a mate no matter what they ride. and he could outride most anytime. Not forgetting hes a top bloke.
I learnt my first lesson in the meaning of life, Ive never and never will critisize anyone for how they ride, what they ride and never ever play follow the leader to anyone and never had since that morning.
No disrespect to anyone, but bikings not from a state of mind. its from the heart. Fuck all to do with brand, self image, ect, i lost contact with that jap rider, but he had a biking heart that would stand up to anyone.
And to anyone thats raced motorcycle. You have my admiration
Badcooky,
Ill step up as to your preferred open invite on page 1.
I often see comment that tends to put people down cause in some folks veiw, there wonna bes or whatever. Ive had harleys most of my life but many dont, I was making the point, and its actually a true story, that you may open your heart up to your desires at any given time in your life. In the eighties that most were running 50 weight penrite oil in there evos, fuck that I didnt just cause those who think there the real deal and do it and anyone else doesnt know shit should do it cause its the biker thing to do.
Some people arrive at a time in life that there in a position to do as there heart desires, most never do.
Anyway, i might not agree with your views, butill respect them cause im on here to hear the wider biking communities views on everything.
There is no certain way of a bikers life. Its what you want out of it,
thats what the last post was about.
And you know what im talking about in last post.
Fuck, how do spell sychology, im gunna blow this.
Yep probably should have PM'd Bahl but I was in the wrong with my other post and need to explain and apologise for my wrong. Now for fuck sake hasnt anyone else had trouble fitting a CV carb/cables to an older bike?
OK I admit it, that last purple line should of been in green.
Anyway, 4 out 10 for your comback. your gettin there.
The reason you didnt get 5 out of 10 is you had to look up sicolo, schcolo, shicologi,. didnt you.
