Thanks alot for that Rod l am more in the know about my bike now . l have another thing that troubles me .. actually l have many ... but one at a time is best . The frame neck cups on my 1943 WLA are in need of replacing and l am unsure of how to remove them . l would be grateful for any expertise on how to do this . Regards Greg
Hi Greg, I have just done this on my frame last week, quite simple really. They are just a press fit into the frame , as you can see on the frame, the cups are much wider than the head stock, all you need to do is use a hammer and punch hitting on the outer part of the race housing, one hit on one side then one hit on the other , keep doing this until the race cup falls out of the frame, these can be very tight in the frame as they may have been there for a year or 70 , to insert the new cups , place them into position , use a hammer with a piece of wood on the cup race and gentle tap back into place until the race is fully seated in the neck. Dave nice look bike . A Side car on a WLA's is fun , I have one , few mods to the motor and a 31 tooth engine sprocket she's no power house but purrrs along at 50 mph
A Head stem bearing cup removed from the frame , as you can see just a press fit into the frame.
