Reading with interest the threads on chopperwork being liquidated and those folk that have lost there hard earned.

1: Obviously, they new they where in financial strife but continued to take deposits. ect. This should alert you to there. ethics character. ect As usual, its the punters who lose in liquidations.

2: Beware. be very aware that when this is settled, that the owners of chopperwork dont start up another bike buisness under another name, say in the wifes maiden name, or some nieces middle name as the propieter. Be aware when a new shop opens, I would check. See it done many times, ( not bike shops but other buisnesses ) If theve taken your money knowing there buisness is about to fold, then that tells me theres no line they wont cross.

Perhaps, if a bike shop starts in your area, buisness savvy forum members could have new owners checked to see if any ties with chopperworx owners and report on forums if they do.

This would do us all a great service and bring out the best in social forums.

I hear ya Mick, but it would not have been obvious that there was an issue when one of our members here put down a deposit.

There is no real way to check until it all falls in a heap. We just put a deposit down for a new car. Now, the dealer has been around for years, but I am buggered if I know their financial status.

3 posts above, see where yar all comin from and valid points as well. I new a fella that bought a kit form chopper with the idea that you paint the frame, tank ect here and send money over for components, get them then send more money for next lot of components, get them, you get the idea, Im sure chopperweeza would of heard of those types as they advertise in bike mags.

With the bloke I know, he sent final payment over for baker tranni and other stuff and the bloke dissapeared off the radar not to be heard of again. The lesson i got out of this that if it was me, id pay chopperweeza or good rep impoter a few bucks just for opinion before i sent money. Same as youd pay a financial adviser or a soliciter to do a house sale. Good info costs, pay for it and many tears are saved.

My bent is if you pay for zilch, you get zilch, pay shit, you get shit, pay for good service, you get good service. 99.99% of time

Dont know the answer but one may be, pay $1000, no more for deposit, if bike dosent end up here regod in your name ready to go and you standing next to it, transfer papers ready to sign. Hand no more cash over. at least your not loosin shitloads. Might be a tough lesson but a lesson learned is a lesson learned.
