If the Hyundai Motor Car Company can give a 10 year Warranty on the drive train, Yes I know it's a Car and yes I know that there not the most reliable car to use as an example.

Why can't Motorcycle Companies give a better Warranty than 2 years?

Is it because they know their products won't last more than a couple of years, any ideas anyone?

Good question allde. I know that Victory in the USA had a 5 year warranty going at one stage. Cannot for the life of me understand why we can't get AT LEAST a 3 year warranty as standard on most all bikes. Maybe we're just too damn small a market for the manufacturers to be bothered!

Can you imagine if HD offered a 5 year warranty on their bikes, I'd expect sales to increase dramatically.
Good for HD, good for the consumer.

It's a damn good question. Warranty to me is how long the manufacturer is comfortable with trusting their gear before it may give in. Has to be!! I would like to ask this question of HD and any other car company...

How long do you expect my machine to last before something may go wrong?

If they say... Oh... Many many years of good travelling.

Then I would ask.. why the stingy warranty??

Hmm... Mitsubishi have given 10 years warranty - I don't think it affected their sales!!

Not me cooky, I'm not a twin cam man, I'm a Revolution Man, no problems with those motors made to last.

That's because the VRods don't have the problems that the aircooled motors have. The V is liquid cooled. It produces almost twice the horsepower numbers of an aircooled VTwin. The V Rod has a Porsche/Harley Davidson motor built as some kind of collaboration between the two companies.

Lots of Vrods in the 160 km's plus range with out any issues plus their have been a few in the mid 200 km's

So what were you saying about a piece of Junk.

Mr badcooky, I already have a BSA and Triumph so have little need for another lightweight bike with an antique engine. You obviously have some loyalty to the smaller, less expensive bikes which is admirable.

CHOPPA - Just to clarify my Mitsubishi comment.

I am on my second MMA Truck ( Triton GLXR) I change every 4 years due to company leasing, and I can tell you the warranty is amazing.

5 years on the entire car front to back up to 100,000km. You can get it serviced anywhere, as long as the service intervals are done and by a licensed mech.
    Then...
10 years on the entire drive train including all 4WD components up to 160,000km.

    There is no fine print!!

That is MMA putting their money where their mouth is! And is the entire reason I spent $50 grand on a Triton and not a Toyota!

A mate has a Hilux and 4 years in it had an issue - dealer didn't want to know. :(

Gday fellas , i thought HD new bike warranty was 2 yrs & unlimited Kms , also on a previous new purchase think i paid an extra @$500 broker extended 4 yr warranty , the only warranty issue that ever arrose was when the 07 heritage ignition switch shit itself ?
On another note my 6ltr 6spd VE sportwagon had 3 year Hold-on new car warranty & optional 3 yr Dealer Warranty , though like choppaweeza said , you have to do 6 month servicing at $280+parts through that same dealer to keep it current ?
Bit exy when you see people doing services these days for $100+ , but they do the work as listed , so no real obs with it so far , if ya using it , it`s a good idea to keep em serviced hey ?

Hi all...Its all marketing,To let you feel your getting a better vehicle or better value for money. Its a sales pitch,Its about selling cars.

The companies that have the standard warrenty are established companies that dont need to stick there neck out in desperation to win over competition.

Does it really matter if evo's are more rebuildable than twinkies? After all even the early 88's are good for 80,000kms plus.  For most people that's 8 to 10 years riding and the number of people I know who've kept a single bike for more kms than that would be less than 10%.
