TTS - general q&a

Lots of us already have a TTS and tinker with it, and lots of others are interested but not yet have one.

Most general TTS q&a are spread throughout other posts so I thought it might be useful to have a single posting dedicated to general q&a on the TTS.  Posters should remember to provide details about their bike and mods etc.

    I'll start with some questions:

Which of the CAE176-03 or the Kuryakyn AC Exhaust calibrations would best be recommended for a starting point on a stage 1, MY2007 96ci softail?  Bike has a 2-1 exhaust - in the absence of a base map with just 2-1 exhaust and air cleaner, I assume there wouldn't be any issue in using the above maps which I presume are for aftermarket 2-2 exhausts, as a starting point to vtune.

I'm intending to tune myself but imagine it would be bloody quick to tune these on a dyno.  Which dyno shops tune via TTS in NSW?

Have many of you blokes on here played around with your ignition timing?

Ok...I saved my original map, downloaded a base map and programmed that in as recommended by a few on here, modified a map ready to v-tune but I cant get that to programme into the ecm...Every time I programme the ECM it copies my downloaded base map in...I don't get an option for different maps...what am I doing wrong???? I just tried again and I can programme any of the maps that are listed except the one that I saved...maybe I have save them wrong??? Is this possible???

Just got it in...I had to edit part no to get the new map to show up in the ecm info....

If you do not edit the part number the new calibration will look the same to you as th eold one BUT it will be changed each time you program it.

Thanks for that Steve...I found the info in the trouble shooting section of the manual...

ok fellas, the next problem...got the vtune running and went for a blat, got back, computer shit itself with error messages all over the screen...re installed the USB driver that came with the tts and went again...same again but this time the computer is fucked, won't boot up,just starts but the screen stays black with a little circle spinning in the middle...I am on the I pad at e moment so where to from here???

UPDATE...the computer is back on line but now takes half an hour to boot up...Looking further at the trouble shooting section I see it say's I need a com port and if I haven't got one I need a USB to Serial Adaptor...What is this??? Is it something else I need to buy???

Get your puta running right before starting the app again, it'l just get worse if ya dont.

What operating system ya running on the puta?

If it's windows, XP, Vista, or W7, hopefully a System Restore will revert the puta back to where it was before it got screwed.

No Hilly...there are no restore points as I didn't have that function set up...Live and learn mate...at least I can now get my original map back into the bike so I can ride it...

Sparra, must be bloody frustrating. Did your computer come with a recovery disc or similar? Your computer shop might have one or you could download from the computer manufacturer or retailer from another computer.

I loaded the CAE176-03-AO onto my bike tonight. Took it for a quick blat and the bike now has a single pop out the exhaust when suddenly closing throttle following wide open throttle. It's also popping a bit when I roll down a hill in gear with the throttle only partially open. It didn't do this previously with my fuelpak which ran the bike smooth-as. Is this pop expected until the tune settles into the bike? I was initially thinking that I may have accidentally reloaded the oem map back onto the bike but the ECU information confirmed that my calibration was CAE176...

I know that CAE176-03-AO is for 2-2 pipes so my 2-1 pipe could also be the cause of the pop.  I know I could also look at making some small changes to the Deceleration Enleanment Table

Sparra do a reinstall of the OS... Pain in the arse and make sue you have system restore setup.... One thing you could try is hitting F8 on the boot up that gives you a chance to do a system repair, that onlt fixes system files nothing else, but if you have corrupted your boot files or somthing similar it will sort the out

Hilly, all I have done thus far is save the oem calibration and then flash that calibration on but it's not as smooth as I expected, particularly with that big pop off WOT

Righto gents...managed to get a vtune in today and all went well (i wedged the usb with a bit of plastic). It was only a short run, about 20min and worked fine...I generated a tune and programed that into the bike and will do another one tomorrow...Every time I do a run and programe the bike,it should run better each time is that right??? Thanks for all the help...

Your on the money on the cam set up hilly. And ref the setup on Fatbat, have a look at the cal address (C:\...2007 2010 Softail 96 AC Exhaust.MT) Not an MT8 File that's probably why the cam setting is greyed out. And the fact that it is a Kury map as well. it would be better to find an approriate TTS Cal for your bike to get the most out of the TTS. Even though you have a stock cam in the bike you might see some benefit of using the cam selector to set the cam timing at the best possible point. There might be very little difference but anything is better than leaving it at stock...

When I do a tune I seem to get a lot of yellow squares meaning few too hits...How do I overcome this or is it normal??? Do I also need to look at my cam settings as above...The bike is stock other than air and 2-1's...

Also..I started with a base map, have done 2 tunes and generated new maps each time...If I save the last one and reset all the parameters I changed to do the vtune and load that into my bike, that should be better than the original base map,is that right and if so that should be ok to ride the bike with...Am I on the right track??

Thanks Hilly...Yellow is only around the edges...I will adjust the cam setting as above in your reply to Fatbat and work on the EGR...

    Thanks again mate...Cheers...Sparra

    Thanks Hilly and AJ56.

I never changed the base TTS cal (cae176-03-AO-001) so why has the cam setup defaulted to something different than for stock cams?

Thanks again Hilly, AJ56 and Steve.

I will look into my cam settings over the weekend.

I understand the cam estimator is just an estimator. Tuning for the intake open point seems easy enough but to set up the intake valve close point using the cam tuning instructions, the instructions suggest you need to run the bike under load on a dyno to record the data to tune this? The whole reason I bought TTS was to avoid having to take the bike to a dyno. The end of the instructions on tuning the valve close point (on page 85) is also incomplete as the graphs referenced are not shown.

after waiting 8 months for the new tts and being on a stock bike,it came in the mail today.

ok so i saved my stock map,now master tune program has all these diferent files for me to choose from, how can i find out what the file names mean and what one to use ?

my bike is a 2012 fat bob,and my plan is to put a mach2 a/c and some rush slip-ons.
