Lots of people in the states blowing aftermarket gearboxes and fitting there stock six speeds back in with 140 square on tap. The HD six speed responds well to a gearing changes like Hilly has done on his bike 30/70. I fitted a 68 wheel pully on my bagger and have a 30 or 31 on the shopping list.
Baker 6 speed boxes are rated for 120 torque only and are letting go above that number. People are putting huge numbers through stock 6 speed boxes with good bearings with no problems.
Now you can say get a life way too much time on my hands.
i split the backing plate and changed the angle of it to make the box fit as you can see in the photo then fish plated it i place you can fit ant box up this way as long as you use an open primery as for houli im a dairy farmer the only orange i come across is calf shit
Just fishing for a bite, all good, just one question, why take the best handling harley ever built and change it?
simply because i can . i hate store bought anything and you think you have time on your hands try liveing in the middle of no where with only cows for company
What about a ful size shot of your bike with your other mods. Got me interested
When I bought my Fatbob I was told ,don't drop into 6th under 140k,s,if you do you will kill it, so basically I rode it for about 70% of the time like a 5 speed. I now have a 2005 Softail and find it perfect with the 5 speed, havn't even bothered looking at the ratio's, just totally enjoy the softail to ride.
