Hi. My 08 superglide has developed a vibration in engine no matter what revs your doing. Riding or sitting on jiffy stand. Any ideas. Thanks

Might be Compensator coming loose. Does it have a scraping sound from the front of the primary, The stock Compensators were a problem with the 07 and 08. Also check your engine mounts as well. Another thing that I heard was a common thing to come loose.

The 96" 07 and 07 model engines had an issue with the Compensator nut coming loose. Some bikes the nut would come loose and scrape on the inside of the primary. it was especially noticed at idle with the bike on the side stand. (Leaning so the comp would slide out a bit. The only way to check is to take the primary off and test the torqu of the nut. I don't know if it was the design or what caused it. I never had the probllem but quite a few bikes did. Most blokes switched over to the SE comp which had a different set up for springs.

As far as the engine mounts yeah they are rubber mounted, check to see if it has cracked...

Are you talking about checking the torque of the main shaft nut

Yeah you have to drop the primary to check the torque, By memory it is 140Ftlbs, normal right hand thread. You will need a locking tool for the drive so that it doesn't slip. (Piece of broom handle cut to size is what I use). As soon as you take the primary off just check to see if the nut has marked the inside of the case. While it is off you will be able to check the front engine mounts as well.

The cranks on our 96 engines are a crap shoot as well with some slipping with a rear brake lock up while riding or doing burnouts wheel stands etc. Most are fine even with major engine mods and hold up well unless abused. There's a number of things that will cause your bike to vibrate engine mounts, lose compensator, stretched primary chain, Top link lose, twisted crank, engine miss fire, lose exhaust.
Did it start vibrating straight away or got worse over time
