    So

I'm currently working & living in Toronto Canada,

I have been looking for a sportster project to bring home with me to Perth WA early next year on and off for some time. Was driving along a secondary country road and saw this sitting for sale on the front lawn of an old property. Was a little dustier that the pics show but picked it up pretty well as is for a steal. Plus the dude trailered it the 200k's back to Toronto for me!

So will be no doubt asking all the same questions everyone else does re importing:

    - Currently sorting approval to import

    - Keen to find out what work I'll need to do to it to get it licensed in WA. Metric Speedo? Indicators, Yes. etc. Any direction on where to look for this would be appreciated.

    - For now, I plan to pick up bits and pieces whilst here in North America to license it in AUS, then Chop it a bit.....

    Cheers

    Asher

    It's a late 1973 XLCH 1000.
Has mph speedo, so was probably born in the US. Can you get replacement plates for speedo or do I need to source another whole unit in km/h?

I have already been introduced to sportster knee! Thing surprisingly fired up on second kick and I slightly hyperextended it... Running with a slight misfire ATM.

Thanks for the advice in the kicker gear kiwidave

It looks pretty original. Has electronic ignition though. + loud pipes. + faulty oil check valve. Hopefully that's what is causing oil to leak out the big primary cover cap when I picked it up. Has sat for at least 12 months after being professionally serviced.
