Looking at getting some new pipes, have narrowed it down to 2.

    V&H 2 into 1 big radius or
Bassini Pro-Street Style System with Turn Out Ends http://www.bassani.com/part/1S24D

I like the look of both so it really comes down to performance, The vance and hines is a 2 into 1 and the bassini has the stepped hedders but is 2 pipes.
Only mods currently done to the bike is the screaming eagle air filter
So i am looking to get the best performace gains without losing midrange torque

Any idea which will be the better pipe

In any case, make sure you get a tuner, or you run the risk of doing damage - you will be way to lean.

Bassani are a pretty cool pipe, but I've heard the build quality is not great. Baffles blowing out and filling dyno room with itchy fluff!! No shit! V&H are supposed to be ok, not a fan of them myself, but their quality, fit n finish is great. One of the best 2-1's is the thunderheader, but the looks of them aren't for everyone. Love my Supertrapp, fantastic quality, easy to tune (if you drill a hole for the endcap or run open), but not loud enough for some. D&D Fatcat is a good one too, or RB Racing.
I reckon unless you're building a specific spec engine and want torque in a certain range, max efficiency etc., just buy what you like the look of. As for me, I'll stick with the supertrapp. Open end cap lost me about 10ft/lbs, with the closed I'm pulling over 100, and 96hp on a mild 95" twinkie. Gotta be happy with that. Quiet enough to sneak around when I want to, but sounds great on full noise.
    Too many choices! Good luck.
(BTW, as per original post: Bassani 2-2 better for hot engine, probably lose midrange on your stock motor. Big Radius will work better with your bike IMO)

If you want loud I can highly recommend the V&H Big Radius 2:1. Nice header design, good fit and finish, good performance over stockies, shine in the midrange, attracts the cops like flies.
Currently have mine in pieces to try and "fix" the baffle for a tad less noise.

I realy like the look of the pipe.

You do know that you will need to buy the Tuner to get it Dyno tuned right? Either a TTS, Power Commander or Sert etc. You will need one of them.  Just make sure you budget for that!

Why the need for a tuner? Maybe a stupid question but I thought you wouldn't need to adjust the ignition timing. As its a carby engine I would have thought tweaking the carby settings would have sufficed
