Well I did the test yesterday and I didn't change my pipes coz I wanted to see how far off I was was with the quiet baffles I was curious and figured it was worth $40 to see how close it came. It was 10 dB over, 111dB was the readout at 2850 rpm legal is 101dB. Looks like the stokies will have to go on. Also failed the engineers cert. because i didn't have a red reflector on the rear.

101dB? What state are you in? 94 (or 96) is the limit in NSW.

I'm in NSW and the limit is 101dB,  thats what the letter from EPA  stated and thats what the tester said. I would be surprised if stock pipes even stayed under 97 after watching the test. My bike was 97 at idle.

Had my stock pipes tested 3 times in the last 2 years, all three came in around 94db. That's on a 96ci too.

Took mine to the authorised EPA noise test station, Tester said all the limits that you have heard are bollocks.
I was testing some 1 3/4" baffles, Non standard Slip ons, The tester read the sticker on my bike, if no sticker he would look up the make and model and get the information off the net.
Bike had to be around 92db @ 4125 Rpm to pass, read 102db, so baffles were to loud.
He stated that each bike is different, what ever the label is, is the db it has to be.

yeah no what you mean, but the best part is you dont have to worry about how your bike handles in corners, THERE AINT NONE, just chewin out the center of tyres and cruisin at 140 plus   and never any wet wheather.  cheers BRUSH

     ccfatboy...

The tester said he has never been able to pass anything but standard and even standard wont pass if the engine has been tuned or tweeked.
