Apes for my fat?

So I have scoured the forum and can't get a definitive answer, so here goes.

I would like to hear from people who have swapped apes and used stock cables. What size apes and any problems??

basically now that the rake is on the bike, the bars were too close using the 4 inch pullback risers, so to see what apes would feel like, I spun the pullbacks so they faces forward and mounted the bars back on. I gotta say I really like the feel. I have only gone for a short ride, but it felt really good.  So now I just need to work out how to measure what size apes that would represent.

Not sure i want to leave the risers facing the other way, but its comfy. :)

I don't want to have to change all my braided lines again, so I need to use the stock length.

    Anyone???

    Thanks Chop!

I Will have to try and see where 10" apes will sit. Just rode 60km with the bars where they are it feels good. Looks a bit dicky with the risers spun around, but at least I am getting a feel for the new riding position without the pain of swapping the bars, only to find out I didn't like it!

If your risers are bent can you put straight ones on to get you a little forward...

    Hey Sparra,

Yeah, I have thought about changing out the pull backs for straights - but looking at the bike, I reckon it will look better with stock risers and apes.

Looks different with the risers around the wrong way though!! ;)

    Gday Mongrel,

Ive got 10" mini apes on my dyna, and they are a good height, id like to go maybe 14s or so, thinking about risers, but also will mean wiring too, and is quite a big and $$ job from what people tell me. Anywho, my two cents is if your after a more leaned over riding position, and do any two up riding, you may get sick of it. I cranked the angle of mine forward for that more sorta bobbed look, felt cool for a while leaned over a bit more, but have now put em back to in line with the forks, and is so much comfier, for my back and all over. Plus i have a lot more control over the bike particularly and at slower speeds ie traffic idling along, and with the missus on the back and just as solid as solo, before it was a bit wobbly to control.

Dunno if that helps or not mate but, yeh! Have a good weekend! Kneez in the breez man

Thanks man - I went to the dealer the other day and grabbed a set of 10 inch minis and sat them on the bike to have a look. The were a bit narrower than the stock bars - how did you find that man?

I like my bars being a little wider and don't know if I am going to like the narrow bars. <img src=" border="0" src="/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif" />

And have you got any pics of yours mounted?

Here is my bike with 12" mini apes with 2" risers. Stock cables.

Not a fatty, but you would think cabling would be similar???
I now have 16" bars, sloped with the forks. They are great.

I hope I have added the pictures OK, admin feel free to fix it, if required.
