Im looking fort info on fitting 12" apes to my 2011 Roadking. The bike has drive by wire and ABS and cruise control. I went to my local HD dealer about the parts required and they gave me a list $1000 long. Then there was fitting on top of that. I will do the install myself. Im thinking there would be a kit out there somewhere for this that wouild come in better than that. Does anyone have any info ?

Ozy, I've just fitted reach bars to my 11 Roadking (about the forth time I've fitted bars).

Do em yourself mate, there's nothing more satisfying and you set them up to how you like them.

I always try and run the wires through the bars which looks better. I'd say you would need longer clutch cable and brake hose with a new set of handgrips. The rest you can do yourself with a soldering iron, heat shrink and some wire.

You don't need another TBW hand module..!!!!

Message me if you want any more info, only too happy to help.

Might write a book on this upgrade I've done it so much.

The main concern is the ABS. Im told the lines are all 1 piece. I tyhink the HD dealer is adding abit of BS to maintain the confusion.

Yeah but the ABS cable doesn't run up into the handlebars.

It goes up behind the headlight then runs down the frame to the ABS module.

you can buy cable kits from a lot of places, am just about to try out a burly brand cable kit for a set of 12' going on my dyna. They were the cheapest I had found for a cable kit, without me measuring up and buying everything I needed individually.

A couple of places can supply those kits, if you want mor einfo ask away, or if in Perth can show you what it looks like :)

    Cheers

For a cost saving (I have 16" apes on mine) you can get an extension harness for the DBW also known as FLY BY WIRE.
If you search Harley fly by wire extension harness, you'll get heaps of hits.
    Good luck.
