Am thinking about raising my tank and have read a few forums (US).  Has anyone got any experience with tank lift kits (USD50) or have you made them up yourself (suggested $10).

Me, thinking of having a crack at DIY! - not for the savings but coz I can.

I got the MMC product. It was alright 'cept they left out the washers. Had to source those bits so almost defeated the purpose of buying. For a 2" lift on the Iron, you don't need the fuel lines supplied with the kit.

Easy enough to DIY. Just bend the bracket so that the inside bottom lines up with the outside top. Tack weld a nut inside the top hole to bolt the tank lugs to it. Make sure the bolts are short enough as they will hit the neck of the frame for a 2" lift.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers.

Made up my own and they work well.  Haven't (and probably wont) relocate coil though - thoughts?

I used the DK Customs tank lift kit, It was easy and looks good. Also used their coil and ignition relocation kit.

For you guys that have brought the DK customs side mount coil and ignition...

I preffer the look of the key with the coil but they say you need to trim some plastic??? what is the plastic?

BTW I dont have a 48... yet anyway.

the plastic holds the wiring and throttle cables, when doing a tank link most usually remove it and then tuck the wiring up to hide it, if you leave it all there you will need to trim the plastic for clearance...
