Hard to tell where noises come from when riding.
If primary chain tensioner is stuck you will hear a more irregular noise. Loose chain.
If compensator nut is loose or compensator is rooted it will be more than ticking and you definitely hear it from primary.
Ticking is more than likely tappets/valve train noise or leaking manifold gasket. Hope not a rooted lifter.
have you just brought a 1996 EVO w/glide ? or a new 2012 96 c.i. w/glide just trying to work out the model if it's the 1996 how many klms old
