modding a fat bob to beat a Triumph rocket III

     Hi guys,

What sort of work would be required to configure a 2013 fat bob to out drag a Triumph rocket III?

On paper the Triumph looks stronger (although I would argue the fat bob looks nicer).

So racing stage kits? Just better induction and exhaust? Supercharger?

What would you add to surprise a Triumph pilot (or perhaps surprise jap pilots or ducati pilots) at the lights?

    Cheers,

    Voigtstr

You could try a 124 CI S&S engine, good reliable engine with heaps of power.

after owning a rocket 111 and now a street glide 103 all i would say is Good luck with it. You will be paying shitloads on mods to get near a std rocket 111.

Thanks Speedzter, what would you add to a fat bob for 8-10k?

A very simple trick i learnt with my rocket was to remove the second butterfly valves from the throttle body. This there to restrict the torque in 1,2,3rd gear. With a power commander running the show you were able to light up the back tyre without using the clutch while rolling in 1st at will. You needded the clutch to do it in 2nd though. Never ridden a bike with as much torque ever!

Don't forget that 140/140 is pulling over 365kg of bike.
I have seen them go down the strip in stock form, just can't remember what times they ran.
    Anyone know roughly??
I would guess a 320kg 120/120 Dyna would make easy work of it

Actually the rocket is only just heavier than a dyna.

For $8-10k you would get a complete new motor!!

Yeah but what kind of engine, the 2013s are already 110cc?

So induction wise, just an easier breathing air intake, or is supercharging the way to go?

Exhaust wise I guess anything I like the look of, maybe http://www.vanceandhines.com/store/dyna/fullsystem/47935

Are there stage kits for 2013 dynas/softails?

Well mate i think that your last comment confirms your clown status and you have little idea on either motor. And no current Harley has a 110cc motor!

You can get a 110 cubic inch motor that comes standard in a CVO  but they dont make a CVO fat bob. You are never going to get your harley to go anywhere near the rocket without $ERIOUS Dollars and bear in mind that we are still talking a STANDARD rocket.

If you think that a air intake even on a 110cuber is going to get you anywhere near a rocket then you really are a clown!

My bad, 103cubic inch.  (Probably comes from me rounding up. My current bike is 1064 yet Moto Guzzi call it a V11)

    And supercharger? http://www.titan-oz-choppers.com.au/magna_super_chargers/index.html maybe.

Me being a clown? Nothing new there.

I'll buy the bike. Run it in. Then start thinking of adding bits.

Sorry still lost with your logic here. A std 103 cuber puts out around 65hp horses at the back tyre and your link tells you that it could increase "up to 45%" increase in power and torque. So 65hpx45%=94hp or there abouts and thats assuming you get the full 45%. So where is the next 45hp just to get you to the std rocket coming from?

Start thinking stage iv kits, cheaper and more hp. See threads on site for them and some decent dyno graphs.

    tough crowd here these days.

Blokes here asking questions and trying to learn and someone calls him a clown, wtf.

Well if you ask a silly question you will get a sharp reply. My suggestion is to research your subject then ask questions about the part that you dont understand. Now the part your mate seems to not understand is with  his Fat Bob is never going to beat a Rocket 111 in a drag race from the lights with equal riders. Dont care how much ne spends or turbos etc. Then to add to his clownary thinks that a air cleaner is going to give him the edge!!

Sure, maybe you shoulda posted that first.

Speaking of research, I seriously doubt HD's latest stg4 version would touch a stock Rocket 111.

stg4+supercharger? Or are they unmixy things?

Man oh man , read from the very beggining, now that means from the first silly question. Now does it make sense?

Again read carefully there is no doubt that a stage iv will never touch a rocket 111, there was never any reference to that, it was mearly to show that for $5000 or so fitted the boys are getting 115-117 hp against his link for a supercharger costing $6500 he was going to get closer hp wise. So next time read slowly and from the top and you might understand it a bit better. Again for the third time, a fat bob will not beat a rocket 111 from a drag race with equal riders!

as per ando ,also fit a S/E clutch is good enough we drag race on them & never a prob.         whats wrong with the s/e lifters ?         i took a 120R Dyna W/Glide too   10.22 sec 1/4 mile e.t. @ 132.6 mph last weekend on stock tyres    149hp = 133.5 torque"
