Air Cleaner - new approach

Thought I'd share what I did to my air cleaner cover . I bought a new insert for the oval air cleaner cover - only to discover that the bloody thing was one piece!! Anyway when I took the cover off (it already had a hiflow airfiilter, a nasty screamin eagle one I think)

I'd been looking at the Heavy Breather but decided it looked a bit extreme, but when I had the cover off I thought I'd try the chrome insert bolted directly onto the air cleaner - looked good! So I went to supercycles and bought a new Arlen Ness big sucker filter (i think its actually a K&N) and then bolted on the cover (need a slightly longer bolt). The insert cover cost approx $50, filter $95 - and gives the bike a new look.

I reckon the effect is great, the exposed filter, can see more of the engine but its not sticking out as far as the heavy breather......let me know what you think.

This is what it looked like before, still good but less attitude

Love the look, I was about to go to a watercuting joint and get some stainless cut to 5 1/2 inches diameter to achieve the same effect.

$95 is what supercycles sold it for. I'm sure someone has an opinion on their pricing.

Nice, looks good. I wouldn't have the tools or the skill for the job but onya for doing it!

That looks like a black air filter - what brand is it?
