Keep us posted on the outcome with them.

The CP clips do get hung up when pushing them in by hand and need to be seated with a blunt screwdriver well one of mine went straight in and the other needed help. The CP clips are twice the thickness of the HD and SE type.

what piston oilers did you use, did you ensure they weren't blocked when assembling the engine.
Just thinking out loud here, relative to heat you experienced!!

Stix, any constructive ideas are welcomed .
The piston oilers were already set up by Darkhorse. They would be the ones supplied with the SE cases. I had the same thoughts when I had the heat problems.
I did check them by applying pressure to the lifter ports with the Lifters fitted, and I could here them blowing off into the crankcase.
The underside of the pistons aren't dark at all, so I'm sure they were working.
Even with the heat, ( that was probably no worse than a new stock tune bike ) I can't understand why the rod has chewed out in 300km's ?
It appears to me that there was either a problem with the big end bearings, or the rod hardening.

    Ok mate.
Internet diagnosis as you know is difficult.
Best to just pull her down and investigate.
Sounds like oil gallery blockage and or foreign body went through and picked up on the bearing.
Sorry to hear about this, a teardown is the go for now.

Carrillo own CP pistons and I'm sure the wrist pins would be fine from the box. I don't understand what you think Speedzter done wrong when fitting them. I run CP pistons in my 103 if you think there's a problem with them let me know so I can check it out.

Hilly, I can't say who is the best, but I will stand by Paul Hallam every time.
He is meticulous, and even puts a coating on the bore and then bakes them .

Pulled the motor out, and will remove the crank this week.
Probably up to the point I need to ship the crank back and go from there.
The postage is going to hurt !!
Looks like the trusty old 95" will see another summer.
I'm tempted to drop the new heads onto it and fit the TW8 cams !

Krash, If I used the new heads @ 84cc, with the 10.25 SE piston's currently in the 95, I would be around 10.3:1 static.
Yep, Woods TW8. The Cam I have is already at 46 deg Intake closing, and the TW8 is close at 47 deg' .

Couldn't notice a huge difference in smoothness between the two, but I guess I'm comparing cranks with different strokes.

I pulled the Crank from the cases today, and as expected, nothing obvious has shown up.

you would almost think it is a side clearance assembley or oiling issue.
You may never know just what it was. Which will be a real bitch.
You said postage was going to be a bitch, wonder if any forum members are heading in the right direction that could help.

Actually Took the engine to Paul Hallam today to check over.
One thing Darkhorse thought the pistons may have been rocking in the bore, but Paul was happy they were OK.
He said the pistons would be OK to re-use, but he will measure the cylinders to see if they will clean up with a light hone.

He really couldn't say what the cause was, other than the possibility there could be a problem with the Timken conversion.
He's not a fan of doing the conversion at all, he prefers to use roller bearings both sides.
I figured their wasn't much point him checking any further.

So I will be posting the crank and cases back soon, and go from there.
They have at least agreed to cover postage.

The old 95" is back in and should be running tomorrow.

    Thanks badcooky
I always do home work before buying parts and thought I must have missed something on them.

Morgage and teenage kids keep me broke so what money I can squeze into the bike has to be well spent.
    Cheers
